Tans - No, I don't have them in curries. I cook my own or when I eat them out I'm so trollied I couldn't care less if it was a plate of dog and tomaotes ( which it may well be ) as long as its hot and soaks up the beer.
fB - it probably accounts why I'm such a fat git as my sauces tend to be cheese based - nowhere near as healthy.

Always hated them - always will. I'm actually neurotic about them. If the kids put tomato sauce on their dinner I'll walk out of the room as the stuff stinks so much it makes me want to hurl. I do realise this is not entirely rational.

I do the exact same thing! I dont keep the stuff in the house and if someone has to put it on thier dinner whilst im eating with them i make then hide it somewhere on the plate so i dont have to look at it. Also cant put my hands in a sink if someone has had it on thier plate. Its a horrible thing.

I have an italian mate who doesn't like fresh tomatoes but loves pureed tomatoes (for sauce). Strange lad.

I am in the same camp as Mr. shorts, I detest tomato.

And yes Ben, it is an incredibly awkward food not to like. I have to choose which pizza place I am ordering from according to how much tomato puree they use and interrogate a waiter in a restaurant as to how much tomato they put in their lasagne (and I love lasagne). If the restaurant can't cook me up a lasagne with little or no tomato then I have to order something else.

Oh, and the smell of tinned tomatoes on toast (one of my uncles favourites) literally makes me wretch.

I prefer cheese.

I hate tomato's to,the'yre also bad for people who suffer with arthritis because they contain Solanine which is toxic to humans.

Also the tomato is part of the nightshade family.

They don't "all look the same" you bigot, you can get green ones and yellow ones, and they're all different sizes from cherry tom's to Beefsteak tom's, and different shapes.

Mind you don't ask me to eat a raw one or I'll puke. Theres somehting about the texture I can't stand. Fine cooked in stuff though.

And tomatoes are a very good anti-cancer food (lycopene if I remember rightly).

A lot of the people I know who have a problem with tomatoes say it's the seeds they don't like, although how this translated into a hatred of tomato puree and ketchup I'm not sure.  Just one of those things I guess!

Im the same, any kind of tomato puree or sauce is not a problem. In fact is beautiful for pizzas and most Italian cooking.

Its the texture of fresh toamatoes that i dislike. The snotty middle bit is like when you havea bad cold and you accidently cough up a slimey green phlem ball.
