Title: Re: is this the most ridiculous tv progamme ever? Post by: herthab on Friday, February 6, 2009, 09:16:12 Did anyone watch the programme on Channel 4 this week, can't remember what it was called, but it was about primary school age children being left to fend for themselves.
Really uncomfortable to watch and the parents should be done (imo) I hope the NSPCC were watching. Title: Re: is this the most ridiculous tv progamme ever? Post by: Miss Angry on Friday, February 6, 2009, 09:23:36 I watched it hertha... im not sure what to make of it to be honest. I mean some of the parents had the right ideas but totally the wrong idea of putting their kids in that enviroment.
I encourage Gianluca to do things for himself like get his own cold drinks, make toast etc but i wouldnt let him near a kettle or a cooker! And if i saw my son treating or being treated the way some of them were i would be straight in there to take someones head off! Title: Re: is this the most ridiculous tv progamme ever? There was one small lad who was really distressed, but his mum still forced him to stay there. Have they never read Lord Of The Flies? Title: Re: is this the most ridiculous tv progamme ever? Post by: Miss Angry on Friday, February 6, 2009, 09:29:33 I've not read it does that make me a bad parent?
She took him home in the end i think, he was a little shit though. Onr quote from the programme made me smile though "the girls need guidence but the boys just need thier mums" :) Title: Re: is this the most ridiculous tv progamme ever? I saw it the other way Steve. I thought it showed that unfortunatly our kids lives these days are just run by adults. Parents are so used to not letting kids out of their sights that kids are losing touch how to look after themselves and communicate with others. They are 24/7 being bossed around and tyhe result of that is that they expect the same off other kids. Like one of them said women like men to be able to wash, cook etc yet these kids did not even know how to cook pasta.Really uncomfortable to watch and the parents should be done (imo) I hope the NSPCC were watching. Title: Re: is this the most ridiculous tv progamme ever? Post by: Miss Angry on Friday, February 6, 2009, 09:39:11 They were between 8 and 11 though... i dont think i could cook pasta at thier age! And i dont think it should be expected of primary age children. I was never wrapped in cotton wool either and nor is Gianluca
Title: Re: is this the most ridiculous tv progamme ever? Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Friday, February 6, 2009, 09:49:06 Ok to rephrase it they put dry pasta in the beans

Post by: herthab on Friday, February 6, 2009, 10:31:55 I've not read it does that make me a bad parent? Course not! Good book though. I think there's a couple of film versions (Definitely one) it's about a group of school boys stranded on an island, with no adults. Title: Re: is this the most ridiculous tv progamme ever? I get what you mean now drs, although i wouldnt let Gianluca cook the pasta he knows you have to boil it, heat beans and put hot water from the kettle into a pot noodle!
