Ive been hiccuping for an hour and a friend said to bend over whilst standing (no jokes please) and drink a glass of water upside down. Gone instantly. If you confuse someone massively while they have hiccoughs (correct spelling) then they will stop.
ie. Ask the patient to say the word "why", they will get confused as to why you are saying it and the hiccoughs will stop. Unfortunately this method only tends to work once.
