Its a proper holiday where EVERYTHING closes and everyone just sits in the parks and gets drunk and has boat parties on the harbour.
Thats what St Georges day should be like (minus the sun etc.) Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 16:28:02 I think St. Georges day should be like that but with things open. What if you run out of alcohol?
Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: Luci on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 16:29:51 I think St. Georges day should be like that but with things open. What if you run out of alcohol? I take it you havent heard of that service in Swindon that deliver alcohol to your door until 5.30am? All you need to do is call the number and order and they deliver free of charge! The booze costs a little more but not a huge amount if you want to carry on drinking in the early hours! great idea! Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 16:34:01 So wait, the alcohol delivery business is open? I'm confused.
Can we have Britain day on Guy Fawkes night instead? St. George doesn't really represent much Britishness, apart from the flag. On the other hand, attempts at blowing up parliament and burning catholics are things I can really get behind. I still think shops should be allowed to open. Maybe only shops which sell alcohol. And they have to pay their staff double wages or something. Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 16:34:59 I saw loads of people had joined that group on Facebook?
can you have anything your heart desires? it reminds me of when me and Sam Parkin were trying to find pink wine at like 4 in the morning after that ball thing at the Devere!! oooo get me with my name dropping!! Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: Luci on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 16:35:57 Alcohol delivery business is indeed! They started a Facebook group to publicise it and you can pretty much order any type of booze! I dont think it will let me on at work to gt you the link but Ill send it later if I can find it.
Its a little more as its free delivery but hardly much more! Its pay on delivery for orders under £60 and anything over £60 needs advance payment by card but its a great idea. Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 16:38:34 Its a great idea - Im sure they will do well - I might join the group to have a nose
actually you know that page when you log in? - practically everytime Ive logged in this week someones joined it Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 16:39:52 How the hell do they get around licensing laws with that?
Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: axs on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 16:50:30 Same way tesco sell it 24 hours a day.
Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 16:52:28 Do Tesco's do that now? Last I was there late they still cordoned it off, but started selling again quite early in the morning.
Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 16:55:47 AXS lives in Tescos - didnt you know?

Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 16:57:17 I thought supermarkets had to stop selling alcohol at 11pm or something like that.
Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: axs on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 17:12:41 Not since the new licensing laws, I've definately bought alochol after 11 in the big tesco.
Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: donkey on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 17:13:37 I thought supermarkets had to stop selling alcohol at 11pm or something like that. Nah...seem to be selling it whenever I've been out to buy some...not had a problem in a few years now. Title: Re: australia day weekend Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 17:16:11 Mental. I could swear that they'd stuck to the 11pm cut off well after the licensing laws changed. Can't remember the last time I was in Tesco that late though.
Asda definitely does close it off, or did about 6months ago anyway. Well the one in Bristol does at least.
