Title: your second-favourite sport?
Post by: Leggett on Sunday, January 11, 2009, 02:22:18
Now I'm making a massive assumption that football is your main sporting passion, but what's your other faves?

I love gridiron, don't get to see any as I don't have sky sports but I've got a score update app thing on my phone :P and as the footballs been off lately I've been to see the ice hockey 2 weeks on the trot, got my ticket for next week too. Lost 10-0 last week, won 3-2 in overtime tonite. It was ace, some big hits, an ace fight and a swearing gran sat next to me, sac magique! :D

Most motor sport, but my betfair account would probably say horse racing (jump not flat).

Kabaddi anyone?

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh yes, citka (might have spelt his name wrong, big canadian defenceman) owned him a couple of times, he was the IOW player who cross-checked feom behind, our number 55, ryan somebody-or-other was our guy who started smacking him for it.

Haha, he was due a beating from the last game when he nutted Shane Moore, so cross checking wasn't his smartest idea... Can't wait to see his face on Monday!

It has to be cricket for me. Although I follow NBA and NFL quite often.

Have seen the Boston Celtics play a few times which was great, far better than watching on television.

Ice Hockey my 2nd favourite. Never have time to go see the Wildcats as much as I'd like, but I knew their best player last season so he used to sort me out a bit. Like the Maple Leafs in the NHL and hope to go and watch them one day.

Didn't know you were a Wildcats fan Leggett, might give me someone to talk to if I went because no one else I know likes it!

Yeah I used to get free tickets at school and got into it then. Went off it for a few years but meeting one of their players last season got me back into it.

I must try and catch them again one time.

My second favourite sport would be golf, the first is cricket (both watching and playing).

Football these days is languishing in third.

Cricket's got to be one of the most boring spectator sports in the world.

Golf's shite, as is any motor racing, as is rugby.

Apart from football, the only other sport I enjoy is boxing.

You should have watched the Aussies/Saffas Twenty20 this morning, amazing stuff.

To be fair, I don't mind 20/20, as it's quite fast paced. Test matches though, Zzzzzzzzzz!

Play for my villages 2nd eleven in the summer, but more for the laugh than anything.

I am also really getting into track cycling, on the back of Victoria Pendleton's exploits in the summer.

Quite surprised/interested by the number of people in to US sports.  I don't know anyone who really follows them.

I'd always been quite surprised at how isolationist the US appeared when it came to sport - and how a nation that had been so successful at exporting other elements of its culture had, to my mind, failed when it came to sport.  Maybe I was wrong.

American Football for me.

I'm a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and have been to Dallas a couple of times to see them.
Looking forward to going back either this year or next, once they move into their new stadium.

Indeed, Americans are considered isolationists by many when it comes to sport but their games are popular elsewhere but nowhere near the same as the impact of football has experienced.

NFL want to break the U.K. just the same as Manchester United and Chelsea want to sell their product abroad.

I like all sports really except Horse Racing which I totally detest. My 2nd fav would probably be Cricket although I don't really follow that as much as I used to. I like Rugby Union but don't really follow the domestic stuff just England. Golf is OK but again I only really take an interest at the majors like The Open and The Ryder Cup. Darts, Snooker, Ice Hockey, F1, Tennis, i'll sit and watch them if i'm in the mood.

Rugby Union (I think that this has a lot to do with the free flowing alcohol) and Cricket (see Union).  I'm getting into Golf playing wise, but other than the Ryder Cup can't stand watching it.

I was in Sweden over Christmas and got taken to watch a "championship" side, Leksand. The support is fantastic. From a town of only 7000 people they had a crowd od 6500.

They also employ a guy who is the leader of the home crowd and controls all the singing with a megaphone. The whole arena gets involved. Great atmosphere, no trouble at all and Leksand won.

Top night out.

I've always wanted a megaphone at the CG, would be brilliant, don't think any other FL club do that!

Oh and second favourite sport Rugby Union, at times it runs football a very close race for favourite.

Very risky move!! It could work.......or you could die on your ass and looklike a right nob wishing the ground would swallow you up as everyone laughs at you.

Or you could get arrested for having an offensive weapon. If bottle tops are confiscated........you get my point!

Yeah, which is part of the reason we need shot of him.  I liked the idea at the start of the season, it was one big push for success.  It failed, and that was clearly down to Favre and Mangini (I also think Schottennheimer, but he seems to be liked).  In reality the Jets ought to be only a head coach and a qb from real success.  However, as this is the Jets, we'll fuck up in a new an unusual style as is our want.

Finally, go Cards...hope they win the lot.
