Its going to take me a while getting used to the whole paying for music thing thats for sure as used to use limewire!

Just because you have an iPod doesn't mean you have to pay for music.

Title: Re: I've just purchased one of these........

i have no intention of, i'm just trying to get it to update only with what new music i've added to my computer instead of redoing everything once i sync it.

sigh

mulley- of course not, lisa bullied me into doing it

What do you mean? Trying to get new albums you've downloaded onto your iPod but iTunes keeps scanning your whole PC?

I bought an iPod uploaded all of my dodgy MP3's and then I still need to go and fucking buy the album on CD like an obsessed collector magpie sort.

Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 11:58:32
I’m still using iTunes ‘antique edition’ and refuse to upgrade so things probably have changed but all I’ve done is point iTunes to the music folder in the iTunes directory and that’s now where all the music is automatically imported to and feeds back from.

yup.
it's fair to say i'm a retard at this whole thing, but the creative program i used before this was so much simpler

Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 12:57:14
I just do it manually. From iTunes just click File and select 'add folder to library'. That sticks it in your library and then when you connect your iPod up next it syncs the new songs you've added to the library.

Post by: Luci on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 12:58:50
Im obviously not going to buy music Ive already got, just going to upload it from there but new music I want, Ill have to pay for as I'm getting paranoid with the illegal downloading malarky now.

Title: Re: I've just purchased one of these........

Considering the millions of people worldwide who download music "for free", you'd have to be extremely stupid and/or unlucky to get caught and prosecuted. The police are mainly going after the people hosting the sharing sites because technically they are the ones infringing the copyright. It's the same with pirated DVD's, it's only illegal to produce/sell them - it's not illegal to buy them.

I'm sure some clever fucker has developed some kind of iTunes alternative, but don't quote me on that.

Either way I don't own iTunes, or an iPod, so i'm alright jack.

Yeah me too. Whenever I think I might need a portable music player I just use my mobile phone. Transfer the songs as if it was a normal usb drive in windows. No bother.

Unfortunately my minidisc player died when the batteries leaked :(

Post by: Barry Scott on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 16:09:59
I used to have a good mindisc player, and like yours the battery leaked, however, mine didn't die, i just can't be bothered to find a new battery!

On an iTunes alternative note, i've just had a butchers and it seems there are alternatives around, however, 5 minutes browsing was getting me worked up about how much i'd hate that program and can see why i'll never own an iPod.

sob i've still got my creative, it just sits there all unused and unrecognised by my computer.

i don't blame apple for this, i blame creative for being cockmunchers who have not developed a driver for it that runs on vista.

itunes does my nut.

is there a possible way i can put some music from my library onto the birds ipod?

Title: Re: I've just purchased one of these........
Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 18:59:51
Creative have not bothered to update a lot of things for Vista, or have taken away features on Vista drivers for no apparent reason.

Some dude on the internet got into a lot of trouble for re-enabling features on the sound cards which were not available on Vista drivers, but were on XP drivers.

Think in the case of some of the Zen players, you just have to update the firmware directly from Creative and then Vista will recognise it without any drivers. All of the Zens are supposed to work on Vista without any drivers anyhoo.

Register your birds IPOD on your ITunes with her serial number and it should then recognise both when you plug each in

please disregard, i've solved the problem by making the library in itunes a window and the ipod a window. strange how it wouldn't drag any other way (ie down the left hand side)

You're interested! I'm cumming in my pants! I was saying to Mrs spacey the other night "I wonder how the upscaling on a Sony BDP-S550 works." Who needs comical threads about Sheena Easton when we've got this sort of stuff to be concerning ourselves with! As for a film to watch on it, I'd recommend 'How to cut off your head with a cheese grater'.

I've just purchased one of these

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Breville-VTT002-Four-slice-toaster/dp/B0010NQ5V4

now I'm thinking what should I have on my toast? Only cost £30 and I carried it home myself. My favourite colour is brown.

I haven't just purchased one, I've had it for ages. I use it all the time and find it amazing. The way it toasts bread and then stops so as not to burn it is like tomorrow's world. It can also do crumpets and muffins with ease. It has this button that allows you to toast from frozen. Apparently this technology was stolen from crashed UFO's. My favourite film is Evil dead 2

My friend has a toaster that does 4 slices, and also has an inbuilt egg poaching device (suitable for 4 eggs).

It's as close as we've got so far to a breakfast robot.

I got given a brand new 4 slicer, so ditched the Kenwood feeling quite pleased. I fucking hate it now though, it doesn't toast evenly in any direction or on any side. You have to toast on the lowest setting and flip it over and rotate, 4 times, to get evenly toasted, er, toast. Otherwise you get one side half brown and the other side lightly toasted. All the slots have their own little tricks. Joy.

back on the ipod subject, it would have appear that I've had a Reggi Blinker....

whilst attempting to increase the speed of me laptop, I decided to delete a few programs...one of which (quicktime player) I didn't know assisted ITunes in its running...so when I've gone to add my spanking new Stereophonics album on this morning to my Itunes (icon still present as I wasn't stupid enough to delete that one :-) ), its telling me that I need quicktime player to run this...if I pop the old Ipod disc in again, is that going to recover all the shit I had on there?

other solutions anyone?? I knew there was a reason I was a member of this forum....
