It doesn't matter how you dress it up, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Budweiser is, always has been and always will be - SHIT. So making a BBQ sauce with it is a recipe for disaster.

Now the JD sauce is something else. Commonly found on ribs etc. in TGI Fridays. Yummo.

Completely agree with all of that.

So do i. Bud is shit beer. I've no idea why they think it would be a good bbq sauce.

Canned bud is my preferred off licence purchase at the moment, better than your carling types and doesn't give the chemical after efects of stella or krony, would imagine in a sauce though it would be shite.

It's probably only got a dash of alcohol in it. Mostly a gimmick.

bud is fucking rank.does the sauce actually contain the stuff?or is it just using the brand name?

Are we talking about the beer or the sauce?

I'd rather drink somebody else's piss than Coors Light. But that's slightly off topic, sorry.

Chimay - best beer in the world (possibly)

Edit:  Of course that does depend on whether you are a guzzler or a conniseur

Weirdly since InbBev took over Bud,  the biggest brewery in America is now Sam Adams - true fact. So all the real shite is foreign owned (or brewed in Canada).

They do some good "Steam" lagers in San Francisco, atlhtough the actual name escapes me.

The Boston Beer Company, which makes the Sam Adams brands actually do make quite a nice range of beers.

I don't think any of them are brewed in Boston anymore though oddly.

Something I learnt recently and now gains fact of the day status is that in Germany there is a beer purity law going back to the 1500's, whereby any beer brewed there can only contain yeast, water, hops and and barley. So no chemical preservatives or taste enhancers. Good.

I was talking to  German fella t'other night, who was drinking Carling, I expressed surprise given the above factoid that he could go near the stuff....he reckoned it OK. Weird...I tried to point him in the direction of proper beer, but he admitted it being just beyond him...I advised a bit of effort would lead to a rich reward.  I'll continue to work on it.

Well I can't tell you as I don't drink lager as a rule.

I can point you in the direction of several excellent micro brews - Bells Two Hearted Ale, Bells Oberon, Tuppers Hop Pocket, Breckenridge Small Batch 471 plus several others.

Sam Adams is OK at a push. Their Summer Ale is quite nice.

I personally don't mind it. From a can it is good stuff, much preferable to your Carling/Fosters/Carlsberg/Heineken...

You cant stick Heineken in with that lot!

Its the proper 5% imported stuff these days as opposed to the piss they used to pass of as Hieneken in the UK before

Yeah i actually don't mind Hieneken now. Tbh i don't really hate many lagers. Fosters, Carlsberg and wife beating Stella are the worst. Carling is OK but i only really drink it because most places don't normally do anything else on tap that's worth drinking with the exception of Guiness. Becks and Corrs is where it's at for me though at the moment.

Having just recently come back from the geat bristish beer festival I can safely say that all drinks listed here are commercail horrible shits compared to some of the "real largers" I tasted I last friday they were lovely, as for some of the ciders even better.

I would suggest that everyone stops buying all this mass produced rubbish and try some real stuff be it ale, larger or cider!

Whitbread Trophy.... :noway:

I've now got that bloody jingle running round in my head over and over again. Bastard!

And Whitbread wasn't that bad. OK it was, but it wasn't as bad as some of the other stuff that was around when I was a kid and sneaking drinks at parties while no-one was looking.

I seem to remember that Watneys as particularly horrible, both the pale ale, and the godawful Red Barrel, which I can only picture in the form of a Party 7 spraying foam all over the kitchen.

And I don't even want to think about Double Diamond, although I already have dammit.
