A distinguished former International goalkeeper himself, John Granville won almost every domestic trophy in his native Trinidad with ASL Sports a stint with the Los Angeles Aztecs, who also included the likes of Johan Cruyff and the late George Best amongst their ranks.

Successful playing spells in England followed with stints at Aldershot Town, Millwall and Wycombe Wanderers.

An FA Trophy final appearance against Kidderminster Harriers in May 1991 in front of 25,000 saw Granville play the game with a broken thumb. The Chairboys went on to win 2-1 with former Town striker Keith Scott also in the line-up.

Rejoined one of his former clubs as goalkeeping coach at Wycombe Wanderers where he replaced Northampton-bound Jim Barron.

Joined Swindon in July 2007, following in the footsteps of the likes of Andy Beasley and Fraser Digby in coaching the keepers at The County Ground.

Perhaps Brez and Smith have been doing too much partying... Frank Talia was never the same after he nailed my sister in the De Vere.... His handling was always suspect after that, too busy scratching his crotch to deal with difficult crosses.

You could say that for many of our former strikers.
