the thing is that PC technology is going forward in leaps and bounds but the games makers don't seem to be keeping up with it, some games are poor copies of PS3 and Xbox games and they are using technology from 5 years ago in PC's.
Skyrim is awesome if you have a PC that can run it.
That's because the console market is far bigger. And until the cost of a decent gaming PC (£800+) can match that of a consolde (<£300) it'll probably stay the same way.

Anyone played the demo of Binary Domain? Another in the already saturated shooter market but this looks like it's going to go in at the top end of the spectrum.

Bollocks. My "decent gaming PC" cost less than £400 about 2 years ago and is still powerful enough to run any modern game. It pisses on Skyrim. Also (this bit not aimed at you Samdy) but I hate the fan boy PC > Console argument. They both have their merits. I wouldn't play strategy games on a PS3, but then I wouldn't play 4 player Pro Evo on a PC. Proud owner of 10 - 15 consoles, from the NES to a PS3, a shithot PC, a Pac Man table and a MAME box with over 15000 games on it. And I love them all equally

No you are correct there, mine did set me back a fair bit more than that, but thats what I spend my illicit gains on now rather than going out on the piss. I enjoy console games but I just prefer playing them on my PC. I have built PC's that can play modern games easily for £400 though.

This config won't run anything without the addition of a CPU.

I just built a small cheap gaming PC for a mate that was around £400 that can play just about any game on HD resolutions and for about the same price as a laptop.
HD 320gb £50 Case £15 500w PSU £15 DVD RW £11 4gb 1600 DDR3 £18 Asus mobo £35 CPU AMD FX-4 @3.6ghz £84 6850 1gb GPU £95 22" AOC Monitor 1920 x 1080 £78
PC gaming machines need not be expensive.

I need a new graphics card, my current one just isn't cutting it anymore.
Asides from that though it does the job. This is in a machine that although more than 5 years old has had no more than a RAM upgrade.

Completely agree. A lot of the AMD processors are a good cheap alternative to Intel.
I've had my pc for a few years and still use the AMD Phenom X4 Quad Core 9950 Black Edition on a cheapish Gigabyte MA790x mobo with a Radeon HD 4890 GFX card.

Must admit I have never added it all up as it will probably scare me, but well into 4 figures over the last year.

Its something I've grown to love. I buy games that are a few years old on eBay and were immense upon release for about £10. I'm going to start the uncharted series soon, much like I've just done with infamous and am soon to do with assassins creed. The only game I plan to buy on release is Grand Theft Auto 5. I absolutely love GTA.
