Latest club linked to SSP is now Swindon. God that PR machine is in overdrive before the early bird ST discount expires isn't it!
The Swindon Town Board have spoken of their desire to secure the services of striker Sam Parkin beyond the end of the forthcoming season.
Swindon Town's Board have quashed all speculation linking the striker with a move away from Wiltshire, with just one offer being received for the player to date which was refused.
While the club await responses from various out of contract players who have been made offers, Parkin is one player who will not be heading for the exit door.
"Sam has been an integral part of our club for three seasons now, scoring over seventy goals in the process. Why would we let him go?" said Director Sandy Gray.
"The Board are expecting to enter negotiations with his representatives to keep him at Swindon Town beyond the end of next season, when his current deal expires.
"We are looking to strengthen the side ahead of the new campaign and with the support of the fans, we are very much looking forward to what's in store for 2005/6," concluded Gray.

yeh i was just about to post that.
i don't know why there not selling him? well its obvious cause hes a great player, but surely the club need the money if they have to offer pay cuts and only 1 year deals?

Whose to say he won't be sold.
It says they are trying to renegotiate an extension to the contract - i.e. so he won't go for free next summer IF he does stay.
He doesn't have to sign that meaning we are more likely to sell because we wouldn't get anything next year. Though it may be deferred until the Jan transfer window in which case his value may go down (less contract left).
He could even sign it then put in a transfer request anyway if a big club come a knocking.
I don't like knocking the board for the hell of it, but the PR seems to be being handled by a school kid doing a summer job:
1. Smith is not offered a 2 year contract. Club then say he is. Dad comes back and says it is conditional. 2. "We are looking to strengthen the side ahead of the new campaign ", presumably that is why our current squad is breaking up then. It may be necessary but to dress it up as strengthening is an insult. 3. Look look - we are trying to keep Parkin. Look. By the way the season ticket early bird offer expires Monday.... 4. The board give the players until mid-June to say nay or yeay to the contracts effectively stopping King from doing quick deals to sure up the squad.

Does Parkin know anything about this or are they making up stories to keep the fans happy again?!
