Trying to convince myself that > THIS < is worth the extra to me than > THIS <. Not gonna be off roading heavily at first, but it's nice to have the option for the future. Cycling should be a good way to get some excercise without the strain of walking/jogging on my gammy knee...

I've got the Rockrider 5.2 which is similar spec to the 340; Suntour forks and Shimano Altus shifters and derailleurs.

Gripshift isn't ideal these days, but it'll be absolutely fine for light trails. Mine's taken a hell of a bashing around Croft and along the Ridgeway.

I don't think the extra is worth it for those Hayes cable disc brakes and a few extra gears.

The motorbike took the next two. Bloody bikers, not looking out for cyclists. Now you see him, now you see him, now you see him.

is it horrible that I laughed a bit? especially the guy running out of the car, two wheels in hand, to check the bike while the rider is sat looking dazed

Did the croft trail today with the lad. Pretty good for a short ride, no good at the rocky sections, crapped my pants on the raised wooden section, and shoulder barged a tree. Really enjoyed it though!

Forgot to restart my watch for the red run..not going to win any strava sections anyway...

Now to buy a fork pump,  got a bit close to bottoming out on the jumps (yes samdy, you did say 100mm was a bit low, but I think they are just a bit soft).
