Sounds like it's a bit lacking for away fans, unless anybody knows of anything towards the centre?

Quote
Next to the stadium is a Holiday Inn and a Harvester Pub/Restaurant that do allow in away fans. You can also park at the Harvester itself for a cost of £3. A bit further away on Dennis Viollett Road (off Sir Stanley Matthews Way) is a Power League complex that also has a bar, which also allows in away supporters, shows SKY television and you can even park in their car park for £4.50. Otherwise alcohol is available on the concourses at the back of the away end, but queues can be lengthy, especially if there is a big support.

If they've decided to play us on the Tuesday following a sunday fixture, I wonder if they are planning on using a lot of fringe players, they might just underestimate us.

Yep, can't see it being more than that. Think the FL actually limit what you're allowed to charge for these ties?

Going to drive up to this, stoke was my first ever away game- the season when we just avoided relegation and stoke were promoted. Think we lost 4-1 but we safe before kick off.

Reckon we will take many fans? A premiership club away in the cup over the last few years we have taken quite a few.

Even in the 3rd round against spurs last season they only had a 15k crowd so I don't think many home fans will be up this!

We could have taken 1500-2k at one point before the O*ford draw in the JPT, but now I think 900-1200 for Stoke which isn't bad on a Tuesday night after bank holiday!

Hi everyone, I'm from a Stoke forum (name in my username).

Looking forward to this game, really feel that if we're going to win a trophy in the next few years it'll be this. We always seem to struggle against sides we should beat (except Brighton, they were terrible), so you've definitely got a good chance.

I think we (Stoke) will win, got a few signings coming in (Ness, Cameron, Huddlestone, possibly Edu) so should have enough depth to give us a chance of a win in both the Arsenal game and this one.

2-0 Stoke is my prediction.

So do you think you will take it seriously, or chuck out youth/fringe players. Even the latter will be tricky for us  away from home, but I'd give us a half chance if you do.

It'll be a mix. I'd be surprised to see Crouch play, Sorensen will play in goal (always does in the cups), Shotton will probably play, couple of the new signings will play and possibly Pennant.

It won't be the side we played against Reading or the side we'll play against Arsenal. But this season we have a lot more depth than last, less 'fringe' players. We've got a squad where the majority are definitely capable of being in the first team.

Having read the Stoke forums they seem to think it will be a mostly reserve side playing against us, most of the opinion of.....

            Sorensen
Shotton Upson Cameron Wilson
Pennant Delap Ness Etherington
 Jerome/Walters    Jones/Crouch

With the possibility of Huddlestone and Dawson making their debuts if they are signed in time on loan from Spurs.

TBH thats a pretty good side for a reserve side!

Should be a good game, don't know how seriously Stoke will take it and there could well be a chance of a surprise.

Surely any opportunity to get out of the Armpit of England (I come from Broadstairs) should be taken? The fact that its a good reason to go really is a no brainer  :)

Going by AA Route planner (based on Rochester to Stoke), its 194 miles and 3 hours 30 mins, gives you an hour to allow for inevitable traffic

Well having just watched them vs Arsenal they do like to batter opponents, lunging into tackles and playing the long ball, our defence will have to work very tightly together to stand up to that kind of battering all game.

Arsenal did in the main outplay them at football but didn't really look like scoring against them, but then again the Arse do outplay most sides at passing.

I think they are definately beatable if they play the same style against us Tuesday, soak up the long balls and hit them on the break, I think we could well surprise them.

I have a feeling that it will be Navarro and Miller together in midfield, might even be a game when we try changing formations with 1 up front and Ferry sat in front of Miller and Navarro giving us that little extra in midfield.

Should be a good game on Tuesday.

If it is effective and wins matches then its all in the game, everyone has that option.

Many teams have become quite successful in playing that way in the past.

Yes, now you say that, and the fact they sell off all there best players so that the board can probably take home a nice little return each year. Sad state of affairs at the Arsenal where the board are convinced 4th is better than a trophy!

Nah, they are just trying to pay off the stadium costs rather than get a return. But as a fan I'd definitely not understand that, given the season tickets are the most expensive in the league.

I guess Arsenal will reap the rewards once the Emirates is paid for.

As a big boxing/MMA fan, I know that styles can make fights and can have a big say in the outcome even if theres a big gulf in class. Stylistically, Stoke is horrible for Swindon which makes me think we won't get anything from the game. I'd rather play a team that would challenge us to actually playing football than kicking seven bells of shit out of us.

I may be missing something here but I don't think any of the streams will work. Can't find any mention of the game being covered at all.

I don't think it is.  It usually needs to be taken by a broadcaster before it will appear on a stream site.
