Giorgetto Giugiaro, legendary car designer behind Italdesign, shuffled off on the 28th. Their concept cars were genuinely crazy (think of all the 70s/80s wedge designs, they're probably his) but also designed the mk1 VW Golf, the delorean, the original Fiat panda, and who can forget this beast, the Morris Ital?

Eh? I don't think so? That would have been all over the Lotus forums (original Esprit designer). It was worth it just for the picture of the Ital...they were utter, utter crap even by the low, low standards of the early 80's

Particularly when his company have designed over 200 cars so far! However, the contender for Worst Ever British Car has to be the Agro? Launched with one of the most innovative ideas ever, the "Quartic" (read square) steering wheel

I owned an All aggro, total and utter piece of shit. I had a Blaupunkt stereo in it that was worth 4 times the value of the car. The worst 60 quid I ever spent....

Both of my grandpas had Austin Maxis. Nothing epitomises the late 1970s to me more than the shape/look of that car.

I had a Maxi in the early 80's- it was the stop gap that kept me on the road between killing my Spitfire and joining the army.
Not glamorous but a great little motor.

Did all cars have wing mirrors positioned half way down the bonnet back then?

A Mk 3 complete with wire wheels, detachable hard top and tonneau cover. Great fun for a young idiot like me

The good old Maxi - lots of room - 'the shagging machine'
