Swindon chairman Andrew Fitton has quashed speculation that former Robins star Sam Parkin will be returning from Luton next season.
Fitton says that manager Maurice Malpas is targeting younger players.
"As a philosophy, it's very difficult for people to go back," Fitton told BBC Radio Swindon. "That's the problem."
"It's not that he's not a good player. But the history of players returning to clubs and succeeding isn't very good and you need to be mindful of that."
Parkin had been linked with a return to the County Ground after Luton's relegation from League One was confirmed.
But Swindon boss Malpas has been scouting Premier League reserve matches in recent weeks in a bid to spot teenagers who will soon be released, as he aims to build a 22-man squad for the next campaign.
