Title: Chris Moyles Show finishing
Post by: Chubbs on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, 07:39:23
Been anounced today that Chris Moyles will be leaving the breakfast show at the end of September, I know hes a bit like marmite, love him or hate but, but i really enjoyed listening to the breakfast show in my way to work
Good banter and minimal music.

A replacement is being anounced later.

Used to like him and listen every day.  Recently however have gone off him as he's become too self important and only talks about himself.  So like others am not really that bothered.

Will be interesting to see who repaces him... whoever takes over will have a struggle, with R1's playlist being as shite as it is.

So much this.

I had the Moyles show on for a few weeks, and all he seems to talk about his himself and how fat he is/isn't.

I likes Moyles.  Has got me through many early morning long distance drives.  This will be the end of me listening to R1, he is the only one I switch on for.

I'm getting old.

Agreed.
Radio 1 is shite these days anyway, Zane Lowe is another one who needs gassing

Chris Evans > Chris Moyles
What your point?

Title: Re: Chris Moyles Show finishing
Post by: Joycie on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, 08:27:37
What your point?

I think his point is that Chris Evans performs much better than Moyles and is statistically the much better DJ.

I could be wrong though.

Greg James raises a chuckle, everyone else annoys me. Steve Wright is a Dick, so I end up listening to 5Live and Richard Bacon (who Is also a dIck, kisses the arse of everyone he interviews and repeats everything he says as if the listeners are retards.) Simon Mayo is my saviour at 5pm...

Strangely, Zane Lowe is the only thing I'll put radio 1 on for (if I'm in the car at that time!)

You said 7.1 million people care about Moyles. Evans gets more listeners, so they don't care.

Evans gets 9.2 million listeners every day so your point is valid.

The point to consider though is R1 breakfast show is targeted at the under 30's and R2 breakfast aims for the over 30's. I've been listening to Moyles for the past 6 years but at the age of 39 I guess it's time for me to head over to R2.

Exactly what it's all about. Target audience. I struggle to listen to R1 (daytime) these days due to the music bring completely shite. Scott mills show is quite funny when he has Becky and Chris helping him out, but that's about it for me.

What is the point in posts like this?!

As for moyles, good riddance I say...how he lasted 8 years is beyond me.
In that time has managed to reduce the breakfast show from a previous high with Evans, to what I wouldnow consider the lowest common denominator of entertainment...

Although also in that time I have slipped from the R1 demographic to the R2/6 one..so maybe its me.

That's a massive step down, even from Moyles (who I didn't mind on occasion). Nick Grimshaw is a complete tool.

I liked Mark and Lard.

I haven't listened to radio in ages though. Mainly because of the general stuff which passes off as music nowadays.

6 music is supposed to be decent though.

Then got bored of the constantly recycled shit he came up with show after show.

Agree with this, I first heard Moyles when he did the Radio 1 graveyard shift (2am - 6am or something like that), he was a novelty then but with his self importance wore thin very quickly. That coupled with the playlist getting shorter and worse and his repetitive inane chat with his 'crew' taking over (comedy Dave needs a shoeing, and not just for being an Everton fan) I stopped listening to the breakfast show.

Don't mind Zane Lowe though (but primarily for the time slot he occupies and therefore music he plays), and the missus loves Scott Mills.

6Music is nowhere near as good as it used to be either. Shaun Keaveney irritates me and I'm not sure why, I think I still have a hangover from the Jupitus days.

Lamacq is the boss though.

Although he took over from Sara Cox who had taken over from Zoe Ball who had taken from...

Radio 1 is beyond my demographic (just), Moyles was worth listening for the 20 -25 min commute and that's all.  Might venture to Radio 2 or more likely go to 5Live.

zoe ball and sara cox were both non entities (cant even remember who was before that), easy enough listening but nothing spectacular...

the point about moyles was, when he took over, it was a similar format to evans, e.g. get some mates in etc, have a party and broadcast it etc, and when he started he was regulalry stealing some of evans's ideas...however, gradually he reduced it from the breakfast show to the Chris moyles me me me show...thats what I was getting at...

Moyles was ok for about 5 minutes as someone has said you just want to punch him. Radio 6 is worth a go great music and the morning guy takes the piss out of Brian Cox on a regular basis so that always worth listening too...digital radio is the answer...Radio 1 is for teenagers isn`t it? And I am not one of those....seen the price of fags these days...

I mainly listen to Radio 4, 5 and Danny Kelly if he's on Talk Sport.Very occasionaly 6 music but they don't really play much stuff I'm interested in..There are to many interesting Podcasts and stuff to catch up on,you can be your own Radio controller these days .

I've always hated Moyles, from the occasional times i've listened to Radio 1 these days they seem to have a very very limited play list, even worse than commercial radio used to be.

I'm a captive market for new potential breakfast shows.

Sometimes listen to CDs I've made, or other CD albums.
Had a spell with Radio 2 but Chris Evans seems to go on holiday about once a month, and his replacements are never as good.
Gave radio 1 a go recently but got fed up with the horrendous dance music they play.
Classic FM is hitting the spot lately.
Have never got round to the Spanish CDs I burned, pre and post work is not when I want to concentrate.

Can't imagine I'll listen to Grimshaw, unless they raise the standard of the playlist.

I'm the same. Go through spells of just listening to CDs for a couple of weeks, then I'll get bored of them and go back to the radio.

As for R2 stand-ins, Richard Madeley is pretty boring to listen to first thing in the morning but Ryan Tubridy's been pretty decent this week.

Not surprised Moyles is going. Good riddance to the fat, boring over-rated fucker.

R1's play list is usually OK (lets remember that music is subjective and appeals to differing tastes / ages etc), but all the verbal shite spewed out by their no-mark DJ's with massive ego's does my head in.

And 'Comedy' Dave - Really?? About as funny as root canal.

The Breakfast show is prime time listening, so play some decent fucking music, vary it a bit to suit the demographics of the target audience, and shut the fuck up.

R2 seems to be targetting 80's and 90's fans. Boring as fuck to me, but hey, I guess Duran Duran and Adam Ant still appeal to the Viagra generation... :D

Talk Sport is OK in the mornings with Keys and Gray, though the Ad breaks are a chore.

Five Dead: Great if you believe everything the government tell you via their news service. And its fucking awesome  if you like being patronised and talked down to by yummy-mummy cunts like Victoria Derbyshire or smug pricks like Richard Bacon and Simon Mayo.

DAB has some fucking ace stations as well as some shite but there is a decent amount to choose from.

DAB. podcasts and ipod compilations fill up my listening time nowadays.

Just started listening to 6 music this year, OK there are going to be times when what they are playing is garbage to you. But its great variety.

Last night Craig Charles was talking to someone about Booker T and the MGs, Donald 'duck' Dunn, Matt Murphy and Tom Malone, shame I only caught the end.

Then later by contrast they played some 'introducing' stuff.

Stick that in you 6 song better music mix Hart FM.
