Just imagine Greer and Dailly as centre backs. Possibly the scruffiest pairing ever!

Kaka.

I've heard we were going to swap him for Cox, but Barcelona have offered us Messi + Cash so we're thinking that over :D

In that case maybe Barcelona and AC Milan can come to some sort of arrangement whereby we get Messi and Kaka, as well as 5 million each from both clubs, in return they can rotate Cox weekly between the two sides. Sounds fair I reckon.

Wasn't he Wycombe's player of the year a couple of seasons ago?

Anyway it would be a good song, and that is one thing we do lack right now.

No idea what position he plays.

He was voted 76th best player outside the Premiership while at Wycombe in 442 magazine, and hes a striker.

His Wikipedia page makes interesting reading.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergio_Torres

"Torres, who had signed a contract lasting until 2010 at Adams Park, was voted the 76th best player outside the Premier League by FourFourTwo magazine even though he is rubbish"

Title: Re: Realistic/unrealistic Targets

I thought he was a winger

Title: Re: Realistic/unrealistic Targets
Post by: SCM on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, 16:35:09
On a serious note:-

-Billy Clarke, forward released by Ipswich
-Peter Clarke, Southend defender out of contract, highly rated
-David Noble, midfielder released by City
-Jon Worthington, released Huddersfield midfielder
-Daniel Nardiello - not sure if he's out of contract, but he's not needed at Blackpool.
-Keigan Parker - just because he always seems to score against us, or at least play bloody well.
-Michael Ricketts - Walsall fans unhappy to see him go. Good presence up front, scores a few as well.
-Dom Blizzard - midfielder at Stockport - may be out of contract but if not, we'd likely be able to get him for peanuts in Stockports situation.

A load more out there as well, could be a decent year for picking up freebies it seems.

Edit:- Torres is an attacking midfielder that can play on the right if needed.

We should go for David Prutton

He's only played a few times for Leeds over the last few months, has he been injured / suspended?

Whilst he'd want too much money, there's also the fact he's turned into shit recently.

As would Peter Clarke at Sarfend, but he has had some admiring glances for Championship teams and I think Sarfend will do their utmost to keep him being their current/ex club Captain.

Talking to a Tranmere mate of mine last night and he says Ian Moore and Chris Shuker are both out of contract at the end of the month and also a young lad Jennings who is a good prospect , they maybe offered new contracts but they have a lack of finance so the manager has been told to trim the wage bill.
I always rated Shuker although he says he can blow a little hot and cold but when he is on form he is too good for league 1.

If you remember just after they took over AF said that they would be looking at players from top clubs who want first team football. (As with Cox).
When you look at the players we've had on loan over the last few years it illustrates the point. If we had signed them rather than had them on loan we'd have a hell of a team.
Examples are Carrick, Milner, Darius Henderson, & the best I've seen was Jimmy Davis (RIP). I'm not saying that we could have signed them all, but I know we could have signed Henderson rather than just acting as a shop window.

probably the best cricketer who became a footballer since phil neville

I really miss the old school cricketing footballers...probably not been a proper one since Phil Neale...Worcestershire often seemed to have one...Jim Standen, Ted Hemsley , Jim Cumbes spring to mind.

Chris Balderstone was good enough to play top flight football for Carlisle, then got capped by England at cricket in 76, when he'd retired from football and was concentrating on cricket aged 36.

I thought Hollands was only suing the club. I saw an interview suggesting he was staying there despite the legal stuff.

He can leave on a free if not paid within 14 days.  If someone makes him an offer , including paying him on time, he would be crazy to say no.

I'm almost certain he's taken up the option of the 14 day rule, which means he's free to walk from his contract on the 12th of June, could be wrong though.

Of course if they get a new buyer in, all notices will be void, but Paul Baker who now runs the club, is apparently reluctant to sell for whatever reason, despite the club losing around 700k after the takeover.

Cleveland Taylor hands in a transfer request at Carlisle which has been accepted.

Taylor on one wing and Macca on the other would frighten defences, hopefully get HRK in as well with a bit of luck and we've got 3 very good wingers at this level.

I'm allowed to be optimistic!

Yeah meant on loan, don't think that's beyond possibility at all.

I read a piece in the Times today essentially saying that Paul Scholes and Gary Neville need to wind down their careers away from the spotlight.  Player-coaching roles I reckon.

If we're looking to strengthen in the wing department, which I expect we are, Max Gradel from Leicester would be a good shout. Remember him running the show when we played Bournemouth a couple of seasons ago.

A good player who will be part of Leicester's side next year.  He even has his own song about shagging the wives of the fans.  You don't move when you have a song like that.
