A couple of issues...

Jonny72 - I assume you mean Alan Shearer given that you name him next to Owen?  Alan Shearer was a magnificent footballer who rarely gave the ball away and was one of the best crossers of the ball in world football at the time - fine, fine goalscorer though yes.

RobertT (not really an issue in fact) - Sometimes you just tell players what they need to hear.  As for Andrew (its Andy Andrew, let it lie) he was much better than he was given credit for I thought, his partnership with Yorke was an absolute joy to watch, you can't be as good as he was during that period without actually being good.

Always will annoy me that Duncan Shearer's days at STFC basically came to an end just as I started attending regularly.  My dad always tried to get me along sooner but given the distance involved for us I usually favored seeing the grandparents instead as we'd always stop to see them, mother, sisters and all, regardless.  It took a while for the appetite to really bite, when it finally did there was no going back.

Cox had a better all round game.

Parkin was really good to watch, he could do it all. Great player.

We've had some good strikers in the time I've been watching us (some shit a well) but for partnerships, Shearer and White in the 89/90 season would be hard to beat. I haven't checked but I think they both scored something like 27 goals that season.

71 goals between 3 players! I know Ossie and his diamond got found out after he left us, but his first season in management was magical. Particularly when he did it with players more used to Macari's more direct style.

We scored 105 goals in total in all competitions that season, it was a fantastic season, minus the end result. And i rate that as the best season i have ever watched the town in, even over 92-93.

Definitely one of the best seasons watching Town. Fortunate with lack of injuries and I think Lou's fitness regime covered Ossie's more relaxed attitude.

And Ossie's performance on the pitch at Boundary Park was less than magical.
