I bloody loves it.

I'm a weekend smoker only nowadays and love a tab with a drink but having experienced smoke free pubs in Dublin its great news.

Even as a smoker the experience of walking into a smoke free pub for the first time is something else.  There's no rank lingering atmosphere and overall the whole place just seems brighter.

You do smoke a hell of a lot less without feeling the difference.  I can regularly do in 30 schmokes on a night out yet on a Dublin session it’s down to 10/11.  A lot to do with not having so many sticky fingers about but it does help a hell of a lot.  Plus then you don’t have all the smoke amplifiers in your hangover.

Not only that but there’s a cracking atmosphere in the outside bits, it’s a good laugh and prime meat pulling territory.

Pubs are going to have to sort outside bits sharpish though.  High Street pubs are going to have to organise smoker’s areas or risk losing trade or having councils grumbling about the 30 pissed up loonies blocking the High Street on a Saturday afternoon.

You know what this means…..

The long and much anticipated return of……….

I read an interesting article about the smoking ban in Ireland the other day.  Apparently instead of pubs smelling of smoke nowadays, they stink of body odour.  The smell in some pubs is unbearable.

So Johno next summer, remember to douse yourself in some Lynx before you start you're ten hour drinkning binge, because the builders (and other workers) who come into the bar straight after work for their drinking session probably won't remember!

Personally I think it's a bad move by the nanny state.  Pubs are for men and women to go and unwind as they always have been.  I don't smoke but I don't begrudge anyone from choosing to smoke.

smoking is a filthy habit that is a fucker to quit(i quit  nov 04) i find the cravings worse when people are smoking around me,so this new law is superb.
if people want to stink, and kill themselves slowly thats their choice but it shouldn't be inflicted on others.

If the government were doing it for the public they would just ban tobacco outright.

I thought it was quite good.

And I'm all for the smoking ban, as it doesn't help my asthma.

Dazza is bang on. From what I've heard, going outside for a ciggie in ireland has become a really good way of meeting people. Hopefully the same will happen here. Of course night clubs with no outside bits would be a nightmare. Constantly telling a bouncer that I was just popping out for a cigarette and will he let me back in would be unworkable.

If there were 2 clubs and in one you were allowed to smoke and in the other you weren't which one would you go to?

However, if all of your mates were going to the smoking club which one would you go to?

It's interesting to see that most people I've asked these questions to answer the non-smoking club for question 1 and then the smoking club for question 2. It obviously doesn't bother people as much as they make out.

Im gioing to open an outside pub for smokers and give everyone umbrella hats.
