You're all so lucky!!!!
I would love to do that but its raising the money to do it!!!! Buy low, sell high - the advantage of a booming house market Otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford it - our tickets were £1215 each inc all taxes and charges. Including new rucksacks, trekking boots etc. it'll be near £3000 before we even leave the country... # I need to be in/around cheltenham for work and there is absolutely no way i could buy in cheltenham as its bloody expensive and also, my age wouldn't help. I still have plenty of time to travel anyway, hopefully through work. Im working on my company at the moment to let me work out in Oz. Watch this space!....

Sounds like an excellent itinery ...
I had a brilliant time last winter (Jan) when i had a month in NZ, Oz and Hawaii ... so you dont need to be overly rich to go those places (tho i did stay 5 star in LA on route!)

More accomodation and travel expenses - remember a cheap place in America called Ponderosa or something - buy a meal for about a fiver and itthen all you can eat from the displays inside (Starter, additional mains, dessert etc) I intend to eat somewhere like that once a week and that's it....

Travel on the sleeper trains. I'm fairly sure you can get good value travel tickets with Amtrak or even Greyhound on the coaches. Book rooms in cheap motels for about £15 per night, find hostels in the major Cities. Ponderosa do indeed do the all you can eat buffett (confused me the first time I used one, thought if you ordered the steak that was all that came and you had to get all your extra's from the buffet - instead I got a full plate of food plus the full plate from the buffet all for about £4.50) If staying in a hotel in a major City, use the cheap airport ones.
