i'm 7th in league one after 31 games, i'd have done better if it wasn't for all the draws i've got and that injury crisis fucked me over, left me without a fit striker.

my team's pretty good overall, i've got geoff horsfield up front, julian speroni in goal, john welsh in midfield and an ex-psg winger called pietre who has been superb. brown is excellent for me on the left-wing (bah) and i've got some excellent prospects in my youth team, jutkiewicz is a polish u19 international and scored 10 in 15 games on loan to aldershot.

my defence is a bit shoddy though.

How did you get half of your team?! What year are you in???
2008. 2 seasons in div3, 3 promos in a row now.

most of my squad were out of contract signings, i only bought about 5 of them. and the majority i paid money for were not as good as the frees. rohan ricketts was a snip at £65k, got rid of mcculloch who cost £200k and was shiite.

looking to move onto a bigger club soon, they just expanded the ground from 7500 to 8600 or something.

What sort of tactics do you lot employ?

I've always favoured a high tempo game and usually defended deep (maybe counter attacking), oh and a wide 4-4-2 diamond as well. Now I've totally changed it, same formation but slow tempo and more time wasting (I found that as long as you have a couple of players set on high creativity you get better chances this way and keep possession). Also I don't really close down except for the DMC but I do have my defence pushed up. I think it's given me more success than my tactics of yesteryear.

i vary it depending on opposition, i play a 4-4-2 at home - sometimes a diamond style formation - and a 4-2-2-2 away from home, two dmc's sat deep and the wings pushing forwards.

i do quite well away from home, it's just my home form that's a bit of a problem.

i use a slow tempo, short passing, slightly attacking style.

I play a high tempo, high pressing, short passing game with reasonable width. Hard tackling permantly on :x  Cheesy

Both centre mids need to be able to tackle, and have high work rate and stamina. play one more creativly than the outright DMC. Recently I have tried a diamond with varying levels of success.

I sometimes play 4-5-1 away against the real top sides (chelsea, barca etc) with 2 outrigh DMC's, a moderatly attacking MC, with both wingers pushed into the attacking midfield positions with arrows right forward. Playing this with high closing down and counter attack down both flacks can really fuck the opposition up as it occupies both full backs and expolits any space they leave if they go forward.

It is dependant of having a striker good enough to pull it off. Despite being 3 foot tall, Sinama Pongolle is very good at it for me because of his pace, movement and dribbling ability.
