Cotterill looked horrendous because he's an advanced midfielder and was being asked to play as a #6, receiving the ball off the centre backs and immediately having 2 players pressing him.
So obvious from the very first game of the season away at Chesterfield. Shocks me how ex players who have been around the game since they were kids can be so oblivious.

Les Allen would be pretty near the top of my list of worst STFC managers - also Ken Beamish.

Or something said. Or betting. Or nothing at all.
I'm not saying it's any of these.
No idea if they have random blood test but maybe a failed drugs test which would explain why it’s taken so long to hear about it.

Watched on my mobile while doing a pub quiz, I thought Ward looked weak with his distribution and he didn't really impress me much.
Cant say I noticed Delaney all game really.
He was prominent early on, then got clattered, was supposed to play the full 90 minutes, but had to come off at half time. He looked o.k. to me and badly missed after Mabete went of. Mabete was supposed to play only 45 minutes.

Always McMahon for me. Only reason is that he removed John Trollope from the club. I heard he got the sack on teletext in Huddersfield library. Fist-pump time.

Second worst, at least he gained promotion even if was for a entire team that had player abilities well above their team's league status. Mackay clearly didn't care about the team, the community, or anything else except apparently running up his bar tab. Paul Hart deserves an honourable mention for his entirely negative attitude to the club, team and fans. There are a few more until we get to Sheradactyl.

Bit unfair on Beamish. Town were on a downward slide with no money and he had to rely on young, inexperienced players. He never stood a chance. We were getting crowds of just over 2000 at the time. Macari was lucky because we got new sponsors in who were prepared to fund the team when he joined.

Beamish was too loyal to his players, couldn't see the necessary upgrades. Mediocrity was o.k., not so much for Lou. Beamish continued as a commercial manger in football, but as a team manager he needed to be a lot tougher and a lot more realistic. Difficult challenge for Beamish, but not exactly a cakewalk for Lou.

Add to that the 7-4 thrashing at home by a mid table non league team under Flynn which must raise him into the top 5 if not the top 2.
A terrible result up there with the worst. But I think overall he was just a bit shit, albeit with a weak squad. Hart on the other hand surrendered our league fate without giving it a go. Todd bought Kim Heiselberg and jumped at the first oppertunity. That's my reasoning!

The difference was that Macari had money to spend. Beamish had none.

I agree. Todd was awful and couldn't wait to get away.
