I said it the other day, I've not seen a better keeper in L2. MKD keeper today was fucking terrible
The MKD keeper was a target for us in January but we ended up signing Ripley, luckily.

Just caught up with the extended highlights. Glatzel assist was good and then put another on a plate for Drinan in the 2nd half.

Kilkenny instrumental in both goals, love to see him twist and turn then drive forward, quality player.

Shrewsbury created two clear chances apart from the goal. Bodin I think lost his marker for the goal. We need a good defensive midfielder over a striker in my opinion.

Agreed re defensive midfielder

It's been a good points start to the season. No doubt about it.
Only problem is, is that we’ve not played a good team yet.  Next week will be the test.  But yes, IF we can finish the season as last season those early season points could be invaluable.

Will Wright vs Kostiuk. Sounds like Smith has lost a family member.
Harry lost his nan the day after he did his UCL.

I don't detest him but I definitely find him very trying, if he keeps playing more like today rather than Tuesday then I can tolerate him.  I certainly wish he had a filter when it comes to his interviews as he makes it very hard to want to be on his side.
This for me too, absolutely.

FWIW I think Shrews will become a mid table side but my God they looked shit yesterday against us, nothing in front of goal and weak as paper defence, it would have been a crime had we not beaten them yesterday.

How that CB Nsiala is a professional footballer is beyond me, Harry would have tore him to pieces.

Like Oboforh?

I, for one, was very disappointed he didn't re-sign.  Miss his ability to break up play and of course his energetic support for the rest of the team.

You are by no means alone in thinking that, unfortunately our offer just wasnt good enough to keep him due to wage/budget constraints apparently (which means we didnt offer him what he and his agent wanted yet Barnet did).

I maybe in a minority here but I think our midfield 3 of Kilkenny,Nichols and Oldaker with Butters in reserve is performing well .With Clarke and Ball to come back I think we're well enough equipped in that dept.

It was a lot better yesterday, when we actually used it

Thought it was below par in previous games, but we over played the long ball.

Either way I doubt we'll change it now

Well, exactly. Not their fault they've been ineffective in a couple of games. First half v Oldham the midfield was superb I thought

It took us 19 league games to get 3 league wins last season (7th December). Albeit some negatives but a much faster start and points on the board.

106 days quicker.
Not being funny but this post sums up everything that is wrong at the moment. We are being conditioned by the ownership and management to see L2 mediocrity as success. We shouldn’t be making comparisons with a season where we were bottom of the entire EFL and see bettering it as some kind of achievement.

All it's saying is there's been an improvement from last season.

Can't see what's wrong with that.

If we finish 9th and people are happy I'll agree

It couldn’t have been much worst really could it? I’d say our current start is the minimum expectation we should have for a start in L2. Like I say it just seems like we are increasingly getting conditioned to see mediocrity in L2 as an achievement.

A promotion challenge should be our minimum expectation, I’m looking at Wellens as a benchmark. We’re actually a point better off currently than that season but we then won the next 3 on the bounce, that’s where my mind is at.

Unfortunately, that's where we now are as a club. My worst fear has always been becoming a run of the mill League 2 club. Whenever we ended up in this division before you always felt like we would bounce straight up, or I did, due to the relative size of the football club, having a larger fan base than most at this level, and having decent pull as relegation often followed a sustained period in League 1.

Our stature has massively gone downhill in the last 10 years, this is our 9th in that period playing League 2 football.

That's why I'm thankful for Holloway even if he does talk a lot of crap. At least he doesn't pull any punches and appears to have a strong winning mentality, compared to the likes of Kennedy who just came across dull and placid. We need out of this division now, and I fancy Holloway to be our best chance of that in some time, before we stagnate even further.
