Does anybody know of a solicitor that gives free legal advice.

Quick summary. I’ve just received a letter from a firm solicitors stating I owe £418.38. I’ve queried it with them and apparently it originates from Sky before I left to live in Greece in 2019. I had a Skybox which I had to return or pay £100 for. I informed them I was leaving the country well in advance and to send me the packaging to return. Packaging never turned up so I couldn’t return it. I left it with a note to the people who had bought our house. Never gave it a second thought.

So now it’s been passed around various debt collectors, I have a CCJ against me from 2020 - obviously all unbeknown to me.

To say I’m thoroughly pissed off is an understatement.

You might have general legal cover with your house insurance. I've used it in the past and they were very helpful

I'm sure a lot of solicitors offer a free 30 min consultation or similar?

ChatGPT's actually pretty good at this stuff and telling you what to say/do, but if you already have a CCJ against you you'll want some good advice to get that removed if you can.

It's not something you should expect for free really.

Jesus Christ. I just tried ChapGPT. Fucking instant response, draft letter to send to the solicitors and a step by step guide to get the CCJ set aside.

Brilliant and very spooky at the same time.

I'm sure you have, but do make sure that you cross reference anything that ChatGPT throws up. There could be some details that it misses and you wouldn't want to buggar up your claim.
