Looks like he had a decent game for Yeovil yesterday:

My Yeovil supporting mates recon hes a star in the making and love him, they also hope to sign him on a perm deal in January.

Honestly, what is happening with him? One of our better players let alone NL.

I mean I can only speculate about what is happening with him but he’s barely played this season.

I don’t know the legalities of loans outside of the EFL but a month loan indicates to me ‘player needs some regular football’ be that for match fitness, confidence etc.

Get him out for a month. Have him get 5-6 games under his belt. Come back sharper, more confident & ready to go…

Be interesting to see if extended.

There is also a slight possibility Holloway rates him (…or someone at the club does?) and doesn’t want him sold off in the window? If rules are the same (I have no idea if they are) he can only play for us & Yeovil for the remainder of this season …

Multiple managers now have been a bit cold on him. Holloway more or less said he ignores instructions in training. There's a talent there for sure, but it's starting to look like it'll go unfulfilled -hopefully not.

Leeds fans rated him, Swindon fans rate him, now Yeovil fans rate him. Successive Town managers evidently don't.  But even Holloway was raving about him shortly after he arrived then the next thing we know, he's out on loan.

Something has to be going on that the fans aren't a party to....

It is possible Holloway rates him & wants him match fit.
Going out on loan would be better for that than making 5-10 minute sub appearances here.

But he hasn't been one of our better players, though it's fair to say the appearances have been somewhat limited to prove himself.

Regardless not playing = wasted budget

My reading of McGurk's quote when loan was announced on Tuesday was certainly that it's been sold to him as a way of getting match-fit.
I'm hoping that he does really impress and is able to convince Holloway that he can be valuable for us in second half of the season.

Didn't see much of Tyrese Shade for Eastleigh in the highlights.  Yes, McGurk looked a cut above NL.

Holloway was asked about McGurk yesterday and said how highly he rates him but doesn’t fit into how we are playing at the minute so needs gametime.

Holloway has made us a team with 3 big centre halves, play quite long and direct early. McGurk simply doesn't fit into that. He might get an opportunity when we're safe but rightly Holloway is prioritising points over performance and to be fair 7 points in 4 suggests it's working

I think with our currently formation & tactics the only place he realistically could fit in is playing off Harry Smith. Probably not his game but would offer something different to Tshimanga, Drinan or Glatzel up there.

…or he slots into Cotterills role if he goes back in January but appears Butterworth is next in line for that

…but Holloway has banged the fitness drum, so entirely possible he wants to use McGurk but doesn’t have the scope to get him up to speed in our fixtures

Probably a combination of all the comments on here regarding fitness, our current playing style what to really do with him etc. etc.. So if he is going to get potentially around ninety minutes of regular playing time at Divvy 5 level under a respected manager and can show what he is capable of, then hopefully longer term that has got to be good for us.

I really hope he has gone to Yeovil to improve his match fitness and that he comes back and we manage to get a consistent level of performance out of him before moving him on...I can see him performing at Scott Twine levels in the Championship...
