Do you hear the ohh sit down chants at the steward.
That is my daft mate.🤣

Yes, hear it every week

It is weird though, the club want atmosphere but then won't let people stand to try and create one

The TE has a dreadful view - that’s why it’s empty. Replace it and those who have repositioned in the DRS and us oldies who haven’t snuffed it yet will return.

A few (20 years probably) The County Ground was always noisy and teams hated coming to us, we always backed the team loudly even when losing.

Now it is so quiet at games, teams no longer fear coming here.

I think fans underestimate ow much influence they can have on the team with positive backing and loud singing, I wish we could get it back again.

Yeah I started going around 20 years ago, always remember the crowd being much louder and the Town End being packed. It was what made me fall in love with Football and following the Town.

It is poor now, unless it's a big occasion or an exciting game. i don't think it's just exclusive to us though, does seemed to have plagued the modern game a bit, i've seen lots of fans moaning about atmospheres in their own grounds now. I even went to Tottenham a couple of times last year and it was very quiet throughout the majority of the game.

I do! The whole situation is farcical.
The DRS is the steepest stand, and its probably HSE lead. Get that.

Meanwhile the rest of the ground is free to stand up.  As is the DRS at half time, where the apple race has given far more excitement than the football in recent weeks.

Tbf the Arkells got told to sit down Saturday.....for the crime of standing up after having a flare chucked at them.

Fucking idiots our stewards.

Reminds of Swindon polices fantastic idea of when our fans were getting pelted with shit from Port Vale fans instead of doing something about it, they decided to just stand there and film the Swindon fans in case they reacted so they could charge them for it.

This.

Fan base is too apathetic at the moment so I understand why, but I don't think we've ever really been well supported. Away from home we've had some great support but at home it's generally been shite. I think the GW reds helped to bring some atmosphere but they predictably were hounded out by certain sections which is a shame. Seems to be common place at most clubs now they have a kind of "ultra section" with flags and the like. Definitely brings a different atmosphere.

Hoping when / if we get new ownership we can rebuild the Town End and have something similar in there.

Yes the apathy is fully understandable with the run of results and the ownership crisis.

When I say about being a fortress etc I am probably going back to at least the Premier League days if not before then when it was a horrible place for away teams to come to.

We were always very well supported considering the size of the Town in the 60's and early 70's, that went down in the 80's but then returned a bit in the 90s.

I would love the CG to be packed as it was back then when we had regularly 13k+ crowds week in week out and it was a place all teams feared coming to because of the crowd atmosphere.

Well, we know where we're goin'
But we don't know where we've been
And we know what we're knowin'
But we can't say what we've seen
And we're not little children
And we know what we want
And the future is certain
Give us time to work it out

Late 70’s, early 80’s with 11k or above crowds the TE was bouncing at least 4 stantions wide.
It was an intimidating place. Ardiles played for Blackburn and he made a comment about how nasty and volatile the crowd at Swindon was.
I used to love it back then.

In the early 80s in Div 4 we used to get about 4k average and the atmosphere in the Town End and Shrivvy were great and often sang all game long. I miss those times.

Absolutely not,  we have had endless discussions with stewards regarding this after being told to sit down, have tried to get atmosphere going in that top corner but it seems away fans can do as they like as ‘it’s not there area’  numbers of us have dwindled in the top right corner due to bans and ejections and all efforts to get fans singing in that stand have been a waste of time. All the stewards want to do is make life difficult for us and get us to return to the Town End, which is slowly happening, maybe hence the return of singing in the town end again !.
