One thing that annoys me listening to Morfuni’s interviews

He calls Gunning and Russell, Jamie and Gev

But always mentions the manager and calls him Kennedy

TBF most clubs now practice a model similar to us, with a DoF and scouting team/analysts in charge of signings based on spreadsheets/scouting network which all clubs have access to if they pay the fee.

In the Premier League and Championship I doubt any manager has full control over signings and probably havent in the last 10 years or so.

If you watch "Mission to Burnley" with Vincent Kompany you will see that Kompany asks for certain players as he knows them and thinks they would compliment his team/style but rarely got what he wanted and most signings were down to the scouting network used and seeing if they were good value for money.

We have to accept this is how its done nowadays, but, I am not sure that out DoF/Scouting/analyst team are analysing the data correctly and seeing how these players may integreate into the system we are currently using. A system that I feel personally is at the full control of the DoF who is signing players to play that system.

Lets face it that since Russell has been with us he has got every manager to try and play with 3/5 at the back and not once has this worked and I fear it won't work either, possibly ever.

We don't seem to have any player capable of playing the wingback role adequately, or midfielders who can play the roles required and that has been the same under Garner/Lindsey/Gunning/Flynn and now Kennedy who all started by playing that formation until it became obvious it wasn't working.

I fear Kennedy's hand are tied by a formation more suited to top divison teams with more skilled players than you are ever likely to get at this level. As such players are not familiar with playing these roles as they havent played them before in their careers as much as they have done a 442 or 433 formation.

Get back to basics, you only need to be slightly better than average to get out of this league.
On this subject, I picked up on something quite alarming in a interview but how many of these players have our coaching staff actually physically gone to watch and scouted, Kennedy mentioned he had only seen clips of Cox and liked them and I can't remember who but he said the same about another one.

I think there are a number of decent signings, especially for League 2.
Kilkenny, Butterworth & Cox look pretty good, and fitness aside you would say Delaney & Hall fit into that category.

As for 5 at the back, the problem we have is we don't now have full backs
The biggest problem for me though is I'm not sure we can put fitness aside. Bringing in players with such a bad record to a club with a reputation for not having great medical care is a recipe for disaster

For someone who's accused of having rose tinted spectacles, I maintain Flynn was an awful one dimensional manager who should've been sacked after the Aldershot debacle. But it's the same old Swindon fans retrospective re-assessment of people who have left the club in my opinion

Flynn was one dimensional.
His inability to see a game out or change to more robust tactics cost us points.

We can point out our great start but it probably should have even better really…
Like if you’re 2 goals up in the 92nd minute you shouldn’t be drawing.

Bloody hell that MDT was a right rollercoaster of emotion wasn't it!

I saw our next opponents Newport had 2 red cards and I think have some injury issues so it could be 2 scratch teams on Saturday!

All the managers we've had over the last 2 years or so have been shit and Flynn was no exception but I don't see how getting rid of him at that time and replacing with an inexperienced caretaker and then not back filling the coaching team was ever going to work.
It's just shambolic  short term chaos, throwing shit at a wall until it sticks, decision making.

Flynn had one dimension, Kennedy so far has shown no dimensions.

I am willing to go out on a limb and say Mike Flynn with 9 wins will have more wins for us this than Mark Kennedy will have by the end of the season

I don’t think there’s any point in comparing Flynn, Gunning, Kennedy, Morris and Lindsey. All found ways to be terrible for us. Kennedy is 5 games in, and has to be given time, no matter how atrocious we have been. If the next 5 games are as bad, then that’s the time you start to see the sackings begin. It’s not useful, and would be rinse and repeat…. so I hope he’s got the sense to see that the way we set up is awful and change before it’s too late.

And now some people would rather have Gunning. Anyway, I was just replying to someone who raised the "Flynn" would be better argument

To be fair though he probably would be. Even during shit times his managerial record shows he is a better manager... So far
