Perfection is not attainable

Definitely prefer option 2
I agree but I fear Ofoborh may not be at match fitness level just yet so may need managing.

And the future is certain
Give us time to work it out

Put me down as another one who would prefer a DM in there and a #10 over a deep QB#10 and a striker in midfield.

With 4D's record on Matchday threads, this is a bad omen.

New season, new game plan, bulked up......nothing to worry about.

It's Chesterfield's party, we hopefully can crash it.

I have a feeling this is likely the starting line up (as it stands).

                          Bycroft
             Wright       Hall      Freckleton
Sobowale    Cotterill(Ofoborh)   Clarke            Longelo
                           Glatzel
                   Smith         Drinan

subs:
Evans
Minturn
McGregor
Dworzak
Ofoborh(Cotterill)
Cain
Khan
King

Unless we go for Drinan on the bench to change things later on and start with.

Difficult to come up with many variants on this. Which is what happened with Flynn last year. It’s when you see this that you realise how short we currently are - and that we can’t afford anybody to be off their game or injured, because there is no pressure behind them. Just imagine if we had 5 injuries - which is perfectly possible. It’s so frustrating, especially after Morfuni’s lies again that we had a better budget and had learned. LSPod had it spot on - he will say whatever it takes to get through an interview, and have no intention of actually doing what he says he would do.  😔  Perhaps we could get rid of the youth pathway coach that doesn’t attend youth matches, to fund another signing?

That said, come on you Reds.

I would love to know what Gunning's annual salary is.

Absolutely zero ability to change formation in there…doesn’t sound like the manager wants to anyway.

I get that I am not a football coach, football manager or anything else but setting up a squad so rigid you can only play 1 formation - to me is just bloody stupid

They've talked about having two different ways to play quite a bit during pre-season, it's just they're two quite similar ways! (5-3-2 and 5-2-3, essentially)

We could switch to 4 at the back and play a midfield diamond (similar to Mansfield under Clough)

We *could* also play 433. Mcgurk and Longelo wide (Longelo has played advanced for accrington in the past)

We could play 442.

It's not great but we COULD switch if necessary.

Don't want to come across as a Morfuni apologist or a deliberate contrarian but say we had 5 injuries from PVs 2nd line up, I think we could bring in Minturn, Drinan,Khan, King and Delaney, not forgetting McGurk(when fit) and it wouldn't be disastrous. Goalie injury, that's a different matter!

Think most teams would struggle with 5 injuries.

Fwiw, it’s not just us who sign players who are better than L2 but have a record of injuries.

Whatever our starting X1, we can beat these "upstart crows". 1-0 Town, Glatzel
