Ralf Rangick for me. His Austrian side were loads of fun during the euros.
Hadn’t thought of him. Good shout. Went to United with a great reputation, and although to say it didn’t work out is an understatement, the consensus seems to be that Jesus himself would have struggled to get a song out of that team.

I saw a tweet that said Southgate was the highest paid manager in the Euro’s (£5.8m) and another that said the FA couldn’t afford Klopp who was paid £15m at Liverpool

Has to be Carsley for me. Won the Euros familiar with all the players minimum disruption. Let's go the Spain/ Argentina way, not done them much harm. Never got the clamour for club managers, totally different ball game. Potter,Howe or Lampard? Please not. Wouldn't want Klopp either, personally

I am sad to see Southgate go but I'm glad it was his choice. Despite golden generation players we won fuck all and would invariably lose to the first half decent team we played. This group of players would beat any England team from 70 onwards. What Southgate did was to make England likeable again. A fantastic front man who understood the political game. Also got the team as a team and not a collection of egos. Maybe not the best tactician but overall I think he did an absolutely fantastic job. This really has been a purple patch under his leadership. I hope those who criticize him are right and that all we need is to be a bit bolder. We're not far from winning a tournament. On a separate note, this has to be the poorest quality tournament I can remember. Spain the standout team. As for the next manager, Carsley for me as well, agree with adje.

That's good, wouldn't want the egotistical maniac with a £0 transfer kitty and the inevitable media circus

Pay him pro rata for the number of games England pay, might get it down from the £15m to the £5m the Fa can afford, albeit saw some suggestion online that they would wait for Guardiola (can't see that). Carsley apparently is more attacking in approach which is what everyone has been crying out for so could be a positive appointment, albeit waiting for the inevitably wailing about it not being a 'name'.

Managed not only the U21s but the U20s too. Steady progression. Would be a good look for coaches taking up the youth positions.

I think Southgate will move into a position to oversee development of the entire process. It might be worth it to still have him involved in some capacity and I think that the FA may even ask him for a name or two to recommend for the actual hot seat.

Let's not kid ourselves. Klopp is head and shoulders above Southgate. Transfer kitty or not he broke 100 points with a team consisting of Lovren,Origi,Milner,Henderson,Chamberlaine, Shaquiri For the same reason you think fans are mad for wanting Southgate out as he has done well you would be mad not to think Klopp gets more out this England squad

Suggest there would be 6 or more European managers that would have achieved better results than Southgate has with the squad of players England has at the moment. Yes, England has been runners up in 2 European nations cups and World cup.
However, they didn't win and neither have they deserved to win. The style of football is wrong for English players. There needs to be fast flowing and attacking football. Similar to how they play after going a goal down as they did against Spain. Although Spain were the better team England could have easily have gone on and won if they threw caution to the wind in the last 10 minutes.
