Hello all,

Been a bit of a while since I’ve posted on here, but I’m always lurking…

Wondered if anyone has ever experienced this before, I’ve recently got a new Firestick and ever since plugging it in the HDMI connection on my PS5 has been really dodgy, dropping out at random intervals for a few seconds sometimes it can go for hours without doing it, but I’ve just had it happen every couple of minutes wildly playing. I suspect it’s a setting on my TV, as it doesn’t drop when the same HDMI was connected to another device. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

Dodgy HDMI port maybe or have you plugged in to the e-arc port?

If it's all plugged in correctly do you have another hdmi cable to try on ps5? Wondered if plugging in the firestick moved a dodgy cable.

You can try removing the firestick, does it return to normal?  If ps5 still bad swapping over the ps5 and firestick on TV as an experiment to rule out TV port.

Lastly make sure TV and console are on latest firmware. Read Samsung had a problema few years ago that affected hdmi handshake with multiple sources plugged in causing blackout.

Cable is deffo fine, as it was being swapped between ps5 and virgin box up till last week, when plugged into virgin box it was perfectly fine, ps5 not.

Removing the firestick does solve the problem, so I suspect it’s like you say an issue with the handshake, as it is indeed a Samsung. Did you see anywhere if it was fixed? All three are fully up to date.

At work now Will, read this thread
https://www.avforums.com/threads/qn95a-55%E2%80%9D-screen-cutting-out-in-games-ps5-and-series-x.2355542/

PS - because a cable works on one device doesn't mean its OK as another device may use different resolution/data rate - given its OK with the FS unplugged it seems fine though

The only other thing to try is making a note of any "hdmi type" setting in the TV and fiddle (can't be specific, don't know enough). But you have to be careful not to compromise the PS5/FS "best output". Can always revert to current setting (hence note the current setting down).

Couple of extra things to check.

Our PS5 which is basically my sons, has been moved out to the games room. It though only has a 1080p def TV in it, and we suffered with a lot of random drop outs initially after moving it from the main TV which has much higher def rate.

Was a combination of the TV needing to be set with a fixed definition rate, and also aligning that with the PS5, I forget the settings now.

That seemed to fix the issue, and I had tried with a brand new cable etc prior to reading about this. Maybe something, maybe nothing.
