I read this thread and it's almost as if you people have no comprehension of what pre season games are for.
You know they're not really for you as the spectator right?
They're local to avoid loads of travel on buses for the team when they're trying to get them fit. They play everyone including the kids to let the coaching staff get a look at them.
The weaker the opposition the more kids will play as a rule. It's not complicated. Honestly if none of you went to pre season away games the club would not give a shit. That's not what they're for. If Chippenham away winds you up then don't go ffs.

You know, you are right and yet wrong in equal measure. WE, as in STFC, purely use the pre-season games to work on fitness and structure. Not everyone ONLY does that though. I refer you to a very public example of a post season tour that Man Utd just had to endure, which was all about the money. STFC could, don't have to, but could, operate some pre-season games with a potential cash bonus in mind. In fact, think about the Clubland thing they just did, now imagine the stadium being used two or three times for games as well/instead of that. if the Clubland thing earned enough to make it worthwhile, a friendly with 5k-6k fans likely does as well. Not least because those pesky season ticket holders have to pay! As I am in the USA, it matters two fuck to me. Just like it does to you, and yet we both spent a minute or two pressing keys on a keyboard. Strange world. |

I've read this incredibly short thread. It's almost as if you people have shit loads of comprehension and knowledge regarding what pre-season games are for.
You know that pre-season games are absolutely for the fans to check out potential talent, grab a pitchside beer and maybe enjoy some sunshine right? You better believe it baby because it's all about you guys {and girls, and anyone else supporting the Town for that matter}.
They're local so they remain accessible in the off-season to loads of fans, who will also be trying to figure out which players are looking fit. They play everyone including the kids to let the fans get a look at who might be pushing into the first team.
The weaker the opposition the more chance a weaker side is put out, so the hosting local NL side can maybe have a chance of winning. These matches are for them as well, plus if we let them score, they might take one of our first year scholars on loan. dalumpyspunky is an utter cunt. Honestly, if everyone went to a pre-season away game and showed their support, the club would probably cream their knickers at the prospect of filling a full County Ground hosting a Luton XI. That's exactly what they're for, to whet the appetite and drum up interest in the season ahead on the playing side.
If Chippenham away gets you going then you make sure you fucking go, and don't let some cunt who gets a reach a round off Ron Dodger's Todger wind you up, just go and enjoy that fucking pre-season friendly. In fact, fucking treat it like it's the Intertoto Cup fucking Final.
