100% this. Had it been a game against Walsall, Newport for example who will have travelled on the day then perhaps they would have given it an extra 24hrs...

Do the covers not work though ?, surely they protect the ground from the frost, I know we have areas over by the DR that don't get as much sun but surely they must know that by now and ensure that area is fully covered so the frost don't have time to get into the ground ?

The covers will stop surface frost and freezing but, we have had a fairly long period of sub zero temperatures which have lowered the ground temeprature to the extent that freezing sets in to a deeper level despite covers.

Imagine putting a cup of water in the freezer, next to a cup of water wrapped in a cloth. The naked cup will be frozen whilst the wrapped cup will take longer to freeze but will freeze eventually.
