I said in the MDT - Austin cleared most of Morecambe’s set pieces but that’s the only thing today that stuck out as being better than ‘ok’ but definitely not enough to award a MotM for…

Ummm, no one?

I thought Godwin-Malife put himself about well today but few stand outs. FBT was decent which you'd expect. Mahoney actually made a few really good saves. McEachran put himself about. I've been a big critic of Hutton but I thought he was good today, helped by the cover of Godwin-Malife.

Khan was poor and would like to see Cain start next game given how he played last time he started.

your summary tells me everything I need to know about this teams weaknesses - look ropey in defence and still have three defenders in the running for MotM!  Too many good on the ball types, not enough (only need a couple) want to just have a fight types.  I imagine our back five celebrate the amount they are involved in going forward more than they do a clean sheet, which is the wrong way around, at least have one or two wanting the clean sheet.

Still, much better than last seasons abject crap.

Not sure anyone deserves it today!
Probably McEachran if pushed.

Dan Kemp for me.  As ever, his runs off the ball and his control of it at pace on the ball, are a key component to most of our offensive threats.  A goal and an assist to show for it too.

FBT and Mahoney both sound and many further good performances marred by the odd lapse (eg Brewitt) or tailing off (eg Austin).

Kemp for me, no absolute stand out performers and no awful ones either.

Uwakwe was below par again and Dokes was pretty much at fault for both goals conceded as they both came from his lack of marking, Mahoney made a few very good saves, FBT solid as usual as was McEachran.

thought Mahoney made some good saves but was a bit less assured at crosses.

but they must look at the  punch v catch stats so what do I know

Prob more than me, Batch.

But he's not the tallest keeper.

With that unchangeable fact in mind, I think he punches quite effectively.

Better than dropping or fumbling and better than staying rooted to his line because a catch looks too risky.

Morecambe were putting a player stood directly on him for any set pieces into the area, he actually did bloody well getting through the traffic to get to crosses and his handling/punching was pretty good as well.

Not sure anyone stood out as having a consistently great match, similarly no one seemed to have a shocker. McEachran was probably up there, helped by the comedic value of the total inability of the stadium announcer to say his name!

I thought Mahoney did really well all game other than he could have spread himself a bit better for the 2nd goal, otherwise I thought he was solid, hes a better option for me that Sol Brynn was last season so far.

Hes not commanding, partly due to his height and build, but as a shot stopper I think hes as good as we have had in years and his distribution is as good as we have seen for a long time too.

I concur - I think Mahoney has done better than Brynn so far.

Not sure how he’ll deal with a super direct team because he’s pretty small in frame and stature for a keeper…

Wrexham were the most direct side and he did well for the first 89 mins against them but he did crumble near the end, even if he and others were impeded by Wrexham players, admitted to as well by the ref who cost us 2 points that day.
