I wanted to be a carpenter as I loved woodwork at school. I absolutely hated metalwork as it was smelly, dirty and noisy . So I ended up getting an apprenticeship at PSF in engineering which was smelly, dirty and noisy.

The only thing I can really remember since primary school is wanting to be a truck driver, because I could smoke and no one could tell me what to do(to an extent). I achieved those aims if not the occupation I suppose. Possibly my biggest gripe with my secondary education is they didn't teach us to believe in ourselves or imagine we could do something different. I can't blame my parents, for them university was a dream. I went and graduated then never used my degree and every job I've had since has been manual. I'm happy with how I ended up, but if I could go back I'd tell myself to find a career I could take around the World, rather than taking off around the World without a career  |

I wanted to work at Williams racing in Didcot.
Had a couple of interviews but no.
Then by chance started fixing irons and kettles
Was offered an apprenticeship as a Radio and TV engineer and carried on in that form of industry all my life.
Trouble is at 66 I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up ? .

An Astronaut. I wrote to NASA when I was about 7 and got a nice little pack of stuff back. Didn't end up as an Astronaut though sadly.
