Sutton crucified.  Then resurrected.  All Swindon's own work.  And it's only HT.

Oh,Brewitt's the scapegoat now. Don't get that at all

I don't think he's particularly good, but at the same time he is the only player in our team who even tries to defend, it's not much of a surprise he gets overrun. The tactical structure we have is essentially "Overload" on FM, it's 10 attacking players, UGM spends more time at left wing than he does at centre back. It's brilliant in a way, but I wish we'd stop being quite so silly when already 3-0 up.

Really need a fast start to second half.  Another goal quickly and Sutton calls it a day

That's your opinion fine, I respect it but don't post as if it's a fact

We’re shipping a stupid amount of goals defensively, it’s clear something needs to change there, whether that’s from midfield cover or defenders capable of more than our current 3. If we’re looking at the CB’s then FBT and UGM are essential to how we play going forward so won’t be dropped but whether it’s a commanding CB coming in or the structure changing, something needs fixing because we can’t rely on scoring 3 goals every week to win.

Very tricky trying to balance that without effecting how we score goals the other end too much but I think it’s doable.

Yeah I don’t buy the “we can’t replace Brewitt with a commanding CB without impacting how we play” argument. Maybe if you add a lump midfielder in as well but for that central CB role you can put a Ryan Edwards type in and let FBT and UGM keep doing what they’re doing

We could replace Brewitt with a commanding CB but it wouldn’t improve our defence.
Said commanding CB would still be left exposed by our marauding outside CBs
…if this mythical commanding CB wasn’t as mobile as Brewitt - it would probably make our defence worse…

It’s not to do with him being a scapegoat, but if you are only going to play with 1 centre back who’s actually going to defend then they actually need to be someone commanding and he just isn’t. Also he’s the obvious one to drop out to inject a bit of height into the team.

A commanding centre back still can’t mark two men when Dokes or FBT give the ball away up the pitch and a midfielder doesn’t drop in.

This is our system. It is what it is. An immobile lump at CB and we are fucked.

We don't need a commanding centre back, we need a fucking miracle worker in that role.

Me neither.

A big donkey's not going to be any more use when Godwin Malife, FBT or A.N.Other go awol and lose the ball.

I think you have to look at ensuring the midfielders - wide or central - know who is to cover loss of possession by them.   Hopefully Flynn will be working on that.  Not least right now in the changing room.

Not sure we can afford to replace half the team by next week!

Perfection is not attainable

I would like a commanding CB to counter big strikers against us and to be a threat at attacking corners and to defend corners.

I think a lot of the problem is that instead of both wide CB's going forward at the same time they need to be more structured and only 1 of them at a time go forwards always leaving 2 defenders back at all times.

So often they both go forwards at the same time and it leaves Brewitt in a vulernable exposed position of being the only man left back.
