Started poorly but grew into the game, could still go either way, we have been the better team for the last 15 to 20 but not creating enough good chances yet.

So many balls across or into the box but never anyone on the end… frustrating!!
Mainly cos it's one of our strikers doing most of the crossing, trying to find the other striker in the box, whilst the midfield are god only knows where.

FBT yellow.

He's been booked in every game this season which is a real worry.

Least encouraging performance so far. Midfield looks worse without Khan.

ok. Dokes and especially young have been superb.

the issue is the shape and personnel  we are playing in midfield isn't working. it's non existent for large periods.

leaving 2 v 2 at the back from goal kicks is asking for trouble, hence FBT booking .

time for Flynn to tinker

Does not matter who or how many cross get in the box if no one is trying to get on the end of them!!

Agree with the comment that it’s ‘Kevin Keegan football’. Forget defending and let’s attack.

We need to be able to step it up a gear in the second half, but don’t have that bit of quality in the final third.

Our midfield looks minute and porous.

Brewitt has been superb, apart from 1 rogue pass.

FBT has defended very well and took a good yellow.

The rest have buzzed around to little effect.

Even more worrying

We fell apart second half against Crewe

If we get any worse 2nd half it'll be a big defeat....

Hopefully we actually improve..

Not been a great half. Made more frustrating by FGR being allowed to time waste from each and every set piece with the goalkicks being the worst of them

At this stage I reckon we'll both hand out and receive a few batterings this season, but ultimately not be very consistent. We don't seem to believe in defending. It's fun, but DV will be along shortly to explain that he'd rather win 1 0 in a 90 minute grind every week Wink

Can certainly see plenty of "entertainment".  Plenty of players showing real talent and at the same time vulnerability.  FBT solid thoughout but Kemp, on the other hand, a bit of a passenger.

I'm sorry, thats just naive bullshit - our performance that is.

They should be out of sight.  To say our defending has the solidity of Helium Gas would be an understatement.  It's not just the back three (but they are a problem), it's the big hole right in front of them and going man for man an every over the top ball against us.  We have three centre backs and you only ever see two of them back there.

Kinsella should take himself off for an early bath, that was a nasty foul.  Very luck to be on.

Going forward we look dangerous at times, but the quality is not quite there.  Young makes some good runs, finds good positions on the shoulder, but looks raw as fuck on the ball at times.

Kemp looks more Darcy than Payne right now - lots of flashes of quality, followed by a cross into the stand behind the goal, or falling over, or playing it into a defender.

There still looks like there is more to work with than last season, but Flynn is currently churning out the Gunning first 30 minutes against Gillingham with them right now.  That dog in defence and midfield is still obviously missing - almost in a literal sense, it's like we are a man short when defending.

On the bright side Young looks like he has something about him, prepared to put himself about a bit early doors and good in the right hand channel, but if he us going to do that it desperately needs at least 1 midfielder to be getting into the box otherwise it's Austin v. 2 at least.

Well according to Hockers we've had about a dozen "let offs" and FGR are clearly the better team. Absolute nonsense. Mahoney,Brewitt,Young and Hutton outstanding. Maalife decent,Austin looking dangerous. Unfortunately the midfield is awful.
