Can't see it happening, unless we can work out how to sign an out of contract player on loan.

Surprised by the reaction to Wickham on the last page, he's played his entire career above this level. Not prolific but that's not his game. Can't imagine he's a bargain basement option.

Yeah, agree. He's had his injuries, granted. But that is probably one of the reasons he has slid down the leagues.

Agreed, if it is indeed true, I would take him 100%.

Wickham may be good for a season alternating with Austin but imagine wages would be a problem.

Don’t think Wickham particularly fixes any of the issues this team / squad had last season.

Agreed, midfield and defensive issues still there without decent recruitment.

He certainly doesn't fix all of them, but having a big lad up front would certainly have helped at times.

Connor Wickham.

Pros.
Played all of his career above L2.
Still only 30.
Should add some quality either alongside or as backup to Charlie.

Cons.
Poor injury record.

On balance, if he's available and wants to come then sign him.

2021/22 Wickham scored 1 goal in 17. I saw him a couple of times for Milton Keynes and wasn’t impressed.

Very much in the Harry Smith mould, he only scores with his head.

Scoring goals would not be his primary role though, we were shouting out for a focal point striker all last season that would act as a target man and put the likes of Austin, Wakeling, RHM in.  If that player pitches in with 10 goals of his own, but ends up creating 10-20 goals for each of those other players, then that would be the point.

Opinions are like arseholes though..

At this point my expectations have been managed to such an extent that I’d be delighted if we signed a traffic cone.

On that basis, delighted with Wickham as a rumour.

Fair & can’t argue with that.
Personally think some strength & experience in at DM/CM & CB is a high priority.
Target man/hold up striker not much use if teams can still walk through our midfield.

Maybe this persuaded someone to get his chequebook out?!

Some of these goals certainly should concern him.
