Amazing really, as I think most thought Drinan was rubbish until he started playing that role for Holloway.

I think most thought he did ok at the back end of last season but looked rubbish under Kennedy (which is an overwhelming trend) before picking up under Holloway.

It doesn't fit the 3-4-3 but if you have 4 strikers and your 3rd and 4th best are Glatzel and Drinan I can accept that.

That's how I saw it. The team did play well with him in it though - so maybe the whole is greater than the sum of the parts

His constant closing down & hassling of defenders was impressive, and helped us win the ball back regularly

He did but that was almost the polar opposite of when he was playing under Kennedy. It could be tactics or maybe he didnt like playing under Kennedy so didnt put in the effort but he looked pretty terrible at times right up until about January, but his last 3 or 4 games he looked a solid L2 player with a great workrate. Hopefully we get end of season Drinan this term and not early season Drinan.

Carlisle (A), the 5 :1 victory last season was largely due to Drinan's workrate and pace.

It was indeed but that was February so well into Ollies tenure, I struggle to think of any game under Kennedy that Drinan would have been more than say a "6" rating. He only managed 2 goals up to Carlisle then doubles his season tally that game.

A rising tide lifts all ships and Drinan feels like a very average if capable ship.

In fairness - they were all pretty fucking shit under Kennedy.
Enough so that I think we can safely & accurately deduce that Mark Kennedy was indeed the problem.

I was probably Drinans biggest critic last season, but his improvement under Holloway was probably the biggest of any player. The injury came at a horrendous time

Yeah, any player's performances under Kennedy should be forgotten about and the slate should be wiped clean. They should just be judged from when Holloway took over. Anything prior to that is irrelevant, Miguel Freckleton being the most obvious but by no means the only example....

Every time I feel like 'going in' on Kennedy I remember what he went through in pre season and just think he was doomed right from the beginning. If he had his time back, I suspect he may have called it quits there and then. Absent for a large chunk of pre season, very unfortunate timing and just never got going after that.
He was bad for us, but the comments on birminghams socials when he got a new job weren't neccessary from a lot of our fans.

Not sure under what heading to put this but players were pre-seasoning at the cricket ground doing their fitness runs etc.. today.
