Is Uwakwe good at anything?
I think he fancies himself as a midfielder. Useful bench option I guess at a stretch.

As it stands, with the squad we have I can see us going with 4 at the back with a diamond in midfield
Bycroft
Sobowale Dokes Minturn Longelo
Ofoborh
Khan Clarke
McGurk
Glatzel Drinan
On paper at least, could be worse..

I’ve read that they want 3-4-3 with narrow wingers. 3-5-2 and 4-3-2-1 are the other shapes.

Yeah the 343 or 433 seems the two. The key being the three up front is typically a single striker with two number 10's or inside forwards.

Wishful thinking on my behalf perhaps, I really liked the shape on us under Martin Ling's brief spell as manager!

I have said I don't mind what formation we play is it suits the players but I really don't like 3-4-3, it suggests you want to relinquish control of games to me.
At least with 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 you have 3 in midfield so hopefully won't get overrun in there and can try to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

Depends who you’re playing. That’s football

Oh absolutely, I'd rather it not be our go to though.

Recruitment screams 352 with wing backs so far
Where as last year felt a bit like get in whoever we can (plus whoever is left) & hope they can play 352. We didn’t really have a proper LWB till Kokolo came in and it took me a lot longer than it should have to remember who was our starting RWB…

Accrington Stanley fans saying Longelo is injury prone and hasn’t played a game since December 2023. Perhaps it is handy we have two similar players contracted then.

Squad depth chart as we stand (assuming the three unannounced youths are staying). Midfield probably good numbers wise, although there are 3-4 there who you imagine we'd move on if there were buyers.
Defence and forwards not so much.

Obviously I don't know the ins and outs of his injury record, which was bad when taken at face value, but if we are playing with 3 CBs I'm a little surprised/disappointed we didn't keep Clayton this year. I felt that was a player in there who could improve given time.

Clayton feels like exactly the profile of player we'd have signed last season if he wasn't already playing for us - pedigree, but injury problems. This season so far seems to be a little different in terms of plans.
