They want to tie Bycroft down to a longer contract due to interest from higher up the pyramid

They do keep saying they have interest in him from higher level clubs. It's erm... tough to see why at the moment.

Hmmm ok then.

TBH hes a very good shot stopper but his starting position and decision making at times is very suspect, as it was again on Saturday.

The good thing is he is young enough to learn, the question is whether he is allowed to learn in the right way without being destroyed in the process.  At least he is our player, so it's in our own hands, which is rare for this club and GK's in recent years

I think there is certainly potential in Bycroft. He’s young and keeper don’t peak until much later. ideally with a competent owner he would be loaned out to a NL team and we had an experienced keeper for this season. Also remember the last keeper our fan base thought was awful, that one played in the Europa League final last year.

Bycroft is making mistakes but he has all the physical attributes to be a very good keeper. Wonder if the pressure of playing for the team he and his family support is getting to him?

Playing behind a poor defence doesn’t help him either - we allow too many easy shots from around the box.
I only saw highlights (?) from Saturday but I think Hall was poor in the build up to Barrow’s goal, and against Notts, while McGoldrick is a player whose level is above L2 the defenders allowed him to do the same for the second as he’d done for the first.

Kovar was truly awful in a Town shirt, clearly there are scouts out there who can see beyond the mistakes and recognise key attributes and qualities that the avergae punter like me can't. Those same people appear to see something in Bycroft, so hopefully he'll keep improving whilst with us and we'll see the benefits in a year or two.

Kovar was always completely in the wrong position which led to most of the issues. If you can correct that you improve him tenfold straight away.

Still a long way to go though as improving him tenfold is still pretty shit.

And gets his second.

Makes the midfield set up with him deeper and Ofoborh higher even more strange.
