Awful news, RIP Steve. You were awesume in the first half of the 95-96 season, and such a shame about the injury (at Burnley from memory). Always thought your career should have gone better after that first season with us.

I still remember you scoring against Oxford in December 97 and hearing "Finney Wonderland" again.
Yeah, it was. Should have been a pen as he was clearly brought down in the area and broke his ankle. But to literally add insult to injury he was booked for diving.

Great player for us and plays a big part in a lot of my favourite Town memories. Really shocking and sad.

Tragic news.  Far too young.  Really sad hearing this.

RIP, Steve.  Condolences to his friends & family.

Loved him from the moment he scored the winner against Hull on the opening day.

RIP.

Jesus. Could ex-players nearly a decade younger than me stop dying please. This is properly depressing.

My parents deliberately didn’t tell me we were getting a family dog (March 96) because they thought I’d want to name her Finney.

RIP Steve, huge part of that 95/96 season which was massively memorable. Opened his campaign with the lesser spotted diving header.

Gotta sing the Finney song today, perhaps even a round of applause in the 9th minute?
