ANDY KING’S triple ankle agony has brought home the fact to the manager that some things in life are even more important than football as he prepares for the Shrimpers clash.

The boss was back at the training ground yesterday for the first time in a week.

He was having to walk with the aid of crutches and watched from a chair but he admitted that the whole experience had left him in philosophical mood about life.

There were three possible theories as to the cause of the pain. Unfortunately for King, all three proved correct.

He said: “It’s an old ankle injury.

“Unfortunately of the three things that were being looked at, I’ve got all three.

“I’ve a slight fracture at the bottom of the leg which they can’t plaster, a little bit of septic arthritis but mainly it was a severe bout of gout.

“We’ve heard things about the rich food, the red wine and the port, I don’t touch any of that.
