Eventually the crowds started to dwindle based on the quality of the product on the pitch but the budget kept coming down and that was blamed on the attendance.

In my defence, I’ve been on the sauce this afternoon. But I know what I mean 😃🍺
Also got to remember sky+ showing so many games doesn’t encourage people to attend matches, essentially with costs attending involved.  Wonder when they’re going to start charging for viewing ?, surely they can’t keep doing it for free.

I think the main reason crowds are down is the boring football under Kennedy and the sky deal.

Sky deal should be reasonably easy to work out the effect of - have other clubs seen a decline in attendance?

Could explain the walk ups, but not the decline in ST sales, unless those people have crystal balls and knew how bad Kennedy was going to be

Both things just aren’t true at all. Such a weird thing to say when there’s clear data which contradicts this.

There was a decline in attendances once in became apparent how boring we were under Kennedy. I guess some of those people have stayed away and watch on sky. Once fans have gone it’s difficult to win them back.

Do you honestly think so?

I'm not telling you how to think of course, just surprised that's your take.

What was the season ticket decline? Anyone remember?

Mind you, being butt fucked by Walsall first game of the season didn’t help. Harbinger of things to come with Kennedy.

Removed all teams who have had the temerity to leave or join league 2 (ie I couldn't be arsed to look at another page for data but also removes the relegation drop off or promotion bounce), here are the averages attendances for the last 4 seasons (to date)

So, not Sky then, unless satellite signal hasn't reached the north.

How many home games have been on Sky this season? I dont think it’s as many as you believe. I personally dont think it’s had an effect on attendances.

The decline in attendance is in my view down to three factors:
1) First season a promotion push, which ended in the play offs, first 10 games, average was c8,500 then a lot higher towards the end of the season. Since then the football on the field has been getting worse and worse until IH has taken over, which would put many people off.
2) First season you had the feel good factor (post power) - which has well and truly worn off
3) The new sky tv deal + dodgy sticks being more available, it will mean less home and away fans
