I see Barrow are talking about investment No offence to them but stfc are a far better proposition. But..if we wasn't such a basket case and had an owner that was remotely interested in the club being run correctly https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cwyjvpwej7mo

Who says the ‘celebrity’ has the funds to sustain a football club.

I am sure that when Clem finally admits the club is up for sale officially that bids will come in.
Not that I think for 1 minute he will accept them, I am sure there are several prospective buyers sat there waiting for the word that Clem is "willing to listen to offers".

I can buy it for a £1 but can’t afford to loose £1million a year so I’m out I’m afraid.

Honestly if someone in theory bought it for £1 and looked at the 'admin fees', they could probably run the club at a break even pretty damn quickly as the club is bare bones on staff.
The issue would be the director loans, etc.

I think you may have over valued the club at £1.

The other thing is as well is that the Barrow owner/s have publically asked for extra investment as they cannot afford to run the club as it carries on in the league.
What they call "a wider investment search" so they still keep the controlling stake in owning the club.
If only Clem had been that honest.

I suspect the Barrow problem is as much as anything due to the clubs remoteness and a limited pool of wealthy people locally with an interest in football, albeit whilst being a bit of a dump Barrow is doing better economically than many places in the NW and you can tell there was a heck of a lot of money there in the past... What is very disappointing is the complete lack of speculation in the local media as to who the celebrity might be, after the Hairy Biker guy died there are not many celebrities I can see with Barrow links.

I saw there was a bit of a discussion around a new contract for Holloway, and i know he's been vague about talking about it, stating the powers that be look after it - which is absolutely how it should be. I'm in 2 minds about how we play this.
1. Clem has seen how well Holloway has done, and how he can use it to market the club to shift Season Tickets. Ian's with us, are you joining us? Etc etc
2. We've offered IH a 1 year extension on less money and a reduced player budget for next season.
I think you'd struggle to find a fan who could make an argument that Holloway doesn't deserve a new contract. It would be good to get that bit of continuity sorted, something we've not had in a few years now.

Yes when every other league 2 teams losses around £1m a year. Unless every other club is doing something dodgy with their 'admin fees'?

My understanding of the potential 'nefarious reasons' for owning a L2 Club aren't that there's actual net profit to be made, but that you can launder money through the club.
Not that there's any hard evidence that's happening here or anywhere else.

Surely we don't want a manager who may get us promoted?

I think that summation is probably true, there have been several cases of lower league and foreign club owners doing this sort of thing, the most famous being the ex Darlington owner George Reynolds who was found red handed with a suitcase of £500,000 in cash in his car boot. There have been a lot of instances of this happening. https://rusi.org/explore-our-research/publications/commentary/money-laundering-football-not-so-beautiful-game
