The Fitton thing to me just looks like Clem trying to replace Rob Angus as a face for the fans.

Yeah, possibly.
I'd like to think that Fitton would cotton on to that & be above that kind of arrangement.

Doing some research on fan viewpoints beforehand would be advisable, then take it from there.
He must be familiar with this forum for starters.

You would think Fitton is a bit more discerning though right? If fitton agrees to it then its a positive in my book.

Simple question would be...why would Andrew Fitton want to get back involved with STFC ?
Unfinished business
Genuine desire to help the club.
Cost of living crisis hits Ramsbury
Due diligence to a possible purchase.

We can only hope

The Fitton stuff seems interesting, and does it provide a glimmer of hope?

Clem gave the usual incoherent, non-answer when he was asked about his role only offering “communications and PR” after Vic prompted him.

However that’s not Fitton’s area of expertise, is it? No doubt, in his experience as a CEO, chairman etc etc that he would have a good handle on PR and be an improvement on what is currently in place.

He describes himself on Linkedin as an “experienced entrepreneur and board member and with a demonstrated history of working in a wide range of industries. Skilled in financial structuring (and re-structuring) as well as acquisition negotiation.”

If you wanted someone to help with just communications and PR, surely there are cheaper alternatives (because he’s not going to be doing this for free, is he?) who specialise in that area.

Clem trying to save face by not admitting the breadth of his involvement? Or is Fitton – please god – going to be putting his "acquisition negotiation" skills to use?

Just one asterisk*

Patey was the handmaiden for Jed and eventually Lee and Clem.

We lost out to the likes of Brentford and Bournemouth that season.  Oh what might have been had it not been such a fire sale.

Yes he was, well documented, however, I don’t see AF as an exact replica of WP. Do you?

Compared to Clem- Fitton is a very astute businessman.

Makes me wonder where the budget to increase the squad came from late on- was it Clem on Fittons advice or did it come direct from Fitton?

Either way Fitton had influence here- no way does Clem or our esteemed CEO have the experience themselves to decide after Walsall the squad wasn’t good enough

Controversial maybe but is Fitton really the high integrity businessman that we thought he was?

Ultimately it wasn’t his money that he was spending and the moment it went wrong after the playoff season and we got relegated he did a runner. Adding in things like the Austin finders fee to pad his own purse I’m just not quite as enthused about his potential involvement as some. The fact he’d be willing to work with this regime raises further questions about him in itself.

Surely the additional money for the playing budget came from the transfer of the young lad going to Middlesboro.

It's going to have helped for sure

Nothing wrong with selling to invest in this case. Selling key players at key times is more troublesome.

Agreed, and suggest if the additional players especially Kilkenny wasn't signed what a mess the playing staff would have been

I know football finances aren’t instant but we sold Hunt on the 8th of July & signed Kilkenny etc on the 30th of August.

So, if it was that money - it had already been there for 6 weeks
(perhaps we were due some when he made a first team appearance so got some after the CC game?)

Or maybe they were hanging on to it until January, but were persuaded to spend it now, on the basis that in January it may be too late?
