It was, yes.

A little more research shows that the game was originally scheduled for Sep 2000 - when the fuel shortages were happening.  The game was rearranged for the end of the following month.

I remember we played them in about 2002ish on a tuesday and it was one of the worst crowds i think i've ever seen at swindon(not including tin pot cups and charity games, etc.), must have been 4,500 tops.

and that is all.

Possibly one of the games below

31/10/2000 Swindon 3 Cambridge 1 att:3,452
24/20/2001 Swindon 2 Cambridge 0 att: 4,882

It shows how our crowds have wandered about, I went to a Coca Cola cup game in August 1995 on a Tuesday night and according to the interweb there were nearly 7k there. TBF I'd hate us if I'd lost to a rare Joey Beauchamp goal.

Crazy how time has passed so quickly. Not a bad crowd for a coca-cola cup game against a minnow in August😁

He’ll mean the 2000 one. One of if not the first game with King in charge and some of the Arkell’s stand roof fell off before the match so half of that was closed. Smallest league crowd we’ve had since the 80’s I’d imagine excluding the Covid games.

Yeah I was young them.... only time I have ever sat in the Arkell's as an adult and ended up sat behind an old woman who had bought a cushion from home who spent the entire game berating the referee for being easy on Cambridge 'Because they have a university and we don't'!
