The Chesterfield? CB that landed on his neck last season?  Went straight onto the Ambulance

Ah yes.

Haven't read back, so unsure if this has already been mentioned.  T1 & T2 you can no longer buy tickets for online. Saw initially on twitter, then checked it on the ticket site. Town End approaching condemnation?

I assume that is where the ambulance entrance gate is where one of the safety issues is currently being looked at? The others include electrical issues related to the floodlights, I've heard.

If that's where the ambulance access is, that gate is no older than the DRS. There is also ambulance access at the Arkells end of the TE. Not sure what the issue is.

Don’t know whether it’s an age thing, but the whole ownership saga is just grinding me down. I can’t see a good, healthy end-game happening from our current predicament. I’m not sure I’d care that much if we collapsed into oblivion - and I’ve had a season ticket every year since 1983. I’d probably just watch Chippenham until the inevitable Phoenix club rises & I’ll start supporting them in the Southern Premier or wherever we start. There, I feel more positive now.

I've been feeling like this has been inevitable for years now, even under Power. It just never ends. If we started a pheonix club under Power we'd be on the road to recovery now.

Its why if someone catastrophic is going to happen, i'd wish it would just happen already. the last decade has been like a state of purgatory which has gotten worse.

Would we though? The apathy towards Power was still pretty strong right up the the end, we'd probably get 500 at the pheonix and 5000 still going to Town.

(not that it matters)

I don't think any sane person thought it was made up by SO69. I'm sure a lot of people do think that still though.

The County Ground has been living on borrowed time for many years.  It's one of the only grounds that I can think of that has not either been replaced or seen major redevelopment/refurbishment over the last 30 years or so.  The Club - by which I mean both the current & previous owners - have been sweating an ageing asset throughout the period.

There was always going to come a breaking point - and it looks as if we have reached it now.  The ground is simply too old and requires too much work.  The recent decision to focus on a reconfiguration of the DRS when the Town End and Stratton Bank are in an advanced state of dilapidation looks incredibly foolish.  Yet another exemplar, sadly, of this admin's inability to run a lower League football club.

But Clem saved our club, without Clem we dont have a club, if Clem leaves the club will fold.

Some people genuinely believe that Clem is our ONLY option when that is blatantly not true and Clem also thinks hes doing a great job from what I have been told and cannot see the problems his lack of funding have created.

Potentially a stand and a half condemned but lets put executive boxes in the one good stand we have.

Even the Cambridge fans are wondering what’s happening😁

https://cambridgeunitedfc.proboards.com/thread/11347/swindle-town

To save you lovely Swindon (Swindle how fucking original) fans from reading the pages of utter hatred they have towards us, which shocked me as I thought they were pretty sound minded fans, blatantly not!

Here are the lowlights of that thread.

Quote from: Bitter Cambridge fans
God I hate Holloway.  He's an absolute knob who actually manages to make things even worse whatever he says.  I feel a bit sorry for Swindon ( the place) because I went trainspotting there once when the works used to make trains. I think it's a retail park now. I also hate the club because of the 'no fuel available' saga.  Knobs. I think they're my new division Pish.

They are Oxford's Pish, and that's good enough for me. Often mistaking for caring about each other, where we're brothers in arms rallying against new town cesspit dwellers, local councils, and for the Father, the gown too.

What a horrible club they are. I hope we smash the bastards and then give George a message to pass on to his second cousin.

They’re a vile piece of crap club. I knew Carl Hoddle really well and it was truly a tragedy when he died. His cousin Mark is also a decent guy. Glenn, well Glenn is a scumbag. The karma he claims to believe in is clearly bollox.

Obnoxious manager.  Obnoxious club.

Holloway has always been a melt and in Swindon he’s found the perfect club & town.

I stayed in Swindon 2 weeks ago… it’s a fecking cesspit that makes most northern towns seem glamorous…

Lots of old beef with Swindon over petrolgate and Hoddle v Beck.

If the rumours about their financial situation really are true, getting in £200k and getting several thousands of pounds a week off the wage bill would be rather tempting I'd have thought.

Seems to have switched from a seller's to a buyer's market though. I doubt it would take a doubling of our latest bid. Especially if the money is needed to keep the club going, money that the owner might have to find himself.

This time next week Smith will be ours.

Yup. I'm increasingly thinking so too.

here's a thread 'Is part of the Town End closed' on one of their fans' forums (The Town End) but I wouldn't be rushing there to gain any (new) information. All very understated.

The New Beginnings thread is where all the doom merchants have gathered

Oh thanks, that's quite a read!

My understanding is that most Swindon fans do their chat via "The Adver", which seems a thoroughly uncivilised way of doing things. There's a recent article on there, which gives me the impression that there's lots for them to sort but that it should be done in time...

am I right or wrong to think if Swindon can't put game on its a 3-0 walkover to us

They will get fined for failing to fulfil the fixture and the game will be rearranged for a Tuesday evening, which isn't what the travelling team (or fans) would want!
I would reverse the fixture, we go to them later in the season on the Saturday Easter Friday our home game is planned for, and make them come to us on a Tuesday.

Just play the game behind closed doors. Fxxx them.

The upside is that they seem to be struggling big time with lack of money.
They might be very happy to accept the next bid for their star striker.

None of this playing behind closed doors or rearranging the game on a Tuesday nonsense for me, I think the game should forfeited. If the ground isn't safe that means they can't fulfil the fixture...

Cue Smith signs for an undisclosed fee before the window closes. Significantly less than 6 figures! It’s so Swindon, years later, still tin pot, crook and the arm pit of country!

It seems that every season some random set of opposition fans take a dislike to us, happened with Wigan and Shrewsbury a few years back IIRC.

Ah well they must see us as a threat or they wouldnt be so pathetic.

I mean some of the posts on this forum have been similarly deranged, lower league football fans never need much of a nudge to get into a fight over who is more tinpot/comes from the bigger shithole.

They do seem very exercised about something to do with petrol, which I neither recall nor am able to Google. Can anyone enlighten me? Assume some nonsense in the 80s when they were managed by John Beck.

fwiw I have a soft spot from Cambridge based entirely off Tom Youngs being an absolute phenom on CM01/02 and being cheap to buy.
