My way or the highway works when you’re a good tactician (Di Canio). Not when you are a John Sheridan. It will just alienate and waste a player.

Or to extend the Di Canio comparison, when you have money to burn on a replacement and paying the wages of an outcast. Whatever the truth of our financial situation, we don't have that.

I think the reason Grant was dropped is even more basic than that.

This is Sheridan stamping his authority on the more experienced members of the team, play by Seridans rules or not even be included in the squad.

Which is as it should be.

I mean, Missilou is on the bench ahead of Grant as midfield cover. Curran is there to cover CB. Obviously Grant would be better at both jobs, but it's not as simple as one or the other really.
Yep, probably the only time I would say Curran’s inclusion on the bench makes sense given he is our only fit back up CB.

Even taking Curran’s squad place out that’s still 17 other places.
We can only ever use 3 subs.

I’m not convinced that Curran being in the squad is that big of a deal.
Remember the days when you could only name 3 subs!?

Getting game time is a different matter obviously but ultimately I’m not sure it really matters if we give up one spot on the bench.

Even if you take Curran out and put Grant in, you’re still highly unlikely to use all your midfielder subs.

You’ve really lost track of football haven’t you. You can make 5 subs now!

Can, but not sure Sheridan ever has? Started looking at subs the other day and think he barely averages two most games.

Yeah but that’s just because he’s a crap manager. Most normal managers use the bench and can make 5 subs.

Charlton away was the first time Town had ever made 4 subs in any 1st team game, Plymouth game we also made 4 subs, but have never used the full set of 5 yet.

Point still stands.
That still leaves two spot that aren’t going to be used.
5 from 6 is still more than adequate options.

The real surprise of course is that Grant isn't on the bench ahead of Matthews as goalkeeper cover.

But hey, if the main argument with the team is who is and isn't on the bench that's serious progress.

Looking forward to see Garrick, Swansea fans seemed complimentary of him.

Hopefully we will play in a way that will showcase his talent...  Hmmm
