I know you can decline it, but wonder how many brits do that. It's against our nature to do that.

The wife and I used to go out with another couple who would say we'll split the bill.   Say the bill was £74, I would put £40 on the table, they would trouser the cash and pay the £74 on a credit card !!!,  Soon got wise to that one, crafty bastards.
