Don't think it has anything to do with pressure from supporters, more needs must from a personnel perspective, will be the same on Saturday for sure but whether it remains the same beyond that is the question.

Sometimes managers stumble upon systems that work at clubs, lets hope that whatever the reasons Williams has found a system to suit us.

As for the game, excellent commitment from the lads tonight, don't think I heard even a dig at Rodgers so it must have been decent.

Said after QPR that we have some very promising young players, Smith and Iandolo can be very pleased with their efforts, particularly the latter given that's near as damn it 180 minutes in 4 days, I wouldn't have been at all surprised if he'd have got man of the match to be honest, I thought he was excellent, it was right that Fonz got it though really as his effort was first rate and he took his goal well.

Vigs is as good as you'll see at this level for sure.

Found a shitty music youtube on Georgaklis. Seems tidy on it, rarely more than 2 touches.

Fans walking around with glazed expressions tonight.

I noted before the game that our leading on the pitch all time  scorer  was Anton with 4, and wondered if we'd ever fielded a side with a collective total of 10? Maybe our first few FL games back in the 1920...although a 9-1 win v Luton in the first game meant it wouldn't have lasted long.

In my opinion, Kasim not playing tonight was the reason that we won. Play going forward was quick and decisive and Rochdale were not allowed time to regroup and get men behind ball when we attacked. We should concentrate on developing the team that started tonight with the addition of Doughty and Jones to squad when fit. Four at back and less short balls from keeper made big difference. Free kicks were on target or delivered into the right areas for our players to attack.
Coaches, please please teach Brophy to kick with his right foot.

What a pleasant shock.

Pen saved again...maybe we are getting the green rub at last!

Hopefully kick on to Saturday.

Hopefully Williams sticks with this formation and keeps Iandolo, Smith & Brophy in the side as these young lads add a bit of fight, pace & energy and earned their place in the first XI last night.

Roll on Saturday. Walsall haven't won away from home yet this season, so we all know what's gonna happen Smiley

Fifth clean sheet is not bad, compared to one at same stage last season.

Have a feeling that we'll go back to three at the back once enough people are available.
Also wouldn't be surprised to see Kasim back in on Saturday.
Some interesting decisions coming up for Williams.

I still only have furlong on 4 yellow, missing one from somewhere

Was he booked during the abandoned Rovers game? I recall reading somewhere that yellows still count from abandoned games.

I thought Furlong was terrific and that back four should be kept together where possible. No player had a poor game in my opinion and it was great to see the ball moving forward whenever possible.

Good result that was. Table is so tight still. Only 6 points separates 5th to 21st.

Shame its taken massive pressure from the supporters to bring about the changes that Williams made to the formation and style of play tonight, but better than that than a continuation of the dross that has been served up for so long.

I can assure you that the pressure from you and any other "supporter" will not in the slightest effect what Luke Williams does with that side.

The game - sounds like Thomas was imperious again. Really impressed with him at AFCW. With Jones back and the switch to 451, we should see Branco down to 4th choice at last.

Get Doughty back in at 10, Murray alongside Kasim or Rodgers (or Thomas) at the base and Stewart back to provide another more direct option out wide and this can work...

It's entirely possible as Ardley said that opposition are a bit confused by us not playing 3-5-2, having the flexibilty to change formations mid game is ideal, or changing to suit opposition from the start.

As Chubbs pointed out very tight league atm. Worth a litle snigger to see Millwall below us, looks like the ground thing might be getting to them, the pink pig pair, are still underachieving, despite Cov's first home win last night and Oxford who expect the league in the bag by Christmas, such was their spend on forwards, have the same number of goals as us.
