Up in Manc for one night only next Saturday with the better half (which means I won't be tempted by Rochdale thank god!) - Simple question... where should we eat, drink and be merry.

Sorry I am going to be no hope for you - whilst I worked in Manchester for 3 years until last Christmas it basically involved walking from the station to the office in the morning and back in the evening.

If you want to PM me where you are staying and what sort of thing you fancy I can probably ask a former colleague who lives in Manchester (although I cannot be held responsible for what he suggests!)

I live in central Manchester.  What sort of food you after?  Pub pubs or bar bars? Old Trafford tour?

Anything decent, mid-range price, not pubs - somewhere like Hawksmoor but not, given they're down here already. Mrs loves her cocktails so somewhere to get a decent martini would be nice too.

Exactly

These should all be decent options for you and are all in the same part of town.

Posh Bem-Brazil

Decent steaks etc

For drinks try any of the above, also..

Cloud 23 bar up the Hilton for some 'stunning' views of manchester

The last 2 are in the northern quarter, loads of bars around and plenty of beards.

Hope that helps, have a look on that manchester bars website if you want any more inspiration.
